Samuel López Jareño (born 1 February 1970) is a Spanish tennis coach.

In 1990, López helped Antonio Martínez Cascales found the Equelite Academy (later renamed the Ferrero Academy) in Alicante. [1] He continued to work with Cascales as part of the coaching team of Juan Carlos Ferrero. [2] [3]

López later coached players including Guillermo García Lopez, Santiago Ventura, and Mariusz Fyrstenberg. [4]

López began coaching Pablo Carreño Busta in November 2015, helping him capture seven ATP Tour singles titles and reach a career-high ranking of World No. 10. [5]

López parted ways with Carreño in December 2024, when it was announced he would be joining former World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz's coaching team to work alongside head coach Ferrero. [6] He had previously stood in to coach Alcaraz at the 2024 Australian Open, while Ferrero recovered from knee surgery. [7]

Representing Spain, Carreño Busta has won an Olympic bronze medal in men's singles at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and was a member of the Spanish team that won the 2019 Davis Cup.

Carlos Alcaraz defeated Pablo Carreño Busta in the final, 6–3, 6–2 to win the singles tennis title at the 2022 Barcelona Open. Alcaraz saved two match points en route to the title, in the semifinals against Alex de Minaur. With the win, Alcaraz entered the top 10 in rankings for the first time in his career, becoming the youngest man to do so since Rafael Nadal in 2005.

Carlos Alcaraz defeated the defending champion Alexander Zverev in the final, 6–3, 6–1 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2022 Madrid Open. Alcaraz also became the first man to defeat Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic in the same clay court tournament, which he did in the quarterfinals and semifinals, respectively.

Lorenzo Musetti defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the final, 6–4, 6–7(6–8), 6–4 to win the men's singles tennis title at the 2022 Hamburg European Open. It was his first ATP Tour title, and he saved two match points en route, in his first round match against Dušan Lajović.

It was his second Wimbledon title and fourth major title overall, and he became the sixth man in the Open Era to complete the Channel Slam. Alcaraz became the second man in the Open Era, after Roger Federer, to win his first four major finals.
