The tournament allows teams to hire foreign players or imports with a height limit of 6'10". The conference started on April 22 and ended on August 8, 2018.

The 2018 ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) Finals was the best-of-5 championship series of the 2017–18 ABL season and the conclusion of the season's playoffs. Mono Vampire and San Miguel Alab Pilipinas competed for the 8th championship contested by the league.

Ricci Paolo Uy Rivero is a Filipino professional basketball player for the Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA). Rivero played for the De La Salle Green Archers in his first two years in collegiate basketball. His breakout performance in the UAAP Season 80 men's basketball tournament earned him a spot in the Mythical Five and the Most Improved Player award.

The 2016 UST Growling Tigers men's basketball team represented University of Santo Tomas in the 79th season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The men's basketball tournament for the school year 2016–17 began on September 4, 2016, and the host school for the season was also UST.

The 2018 UST Growling Tigers men's basketball team represented University of Santo Tomas in the 81st season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines. The men's basketball tournament for the school year 2018-19 began on September 8, 2018, and the host school for the season was National University.

The 2019–20 ABL season was the tenth season of competition of the ASEAN Basketball League. The regular season started on 16 November 2019 and was set to end on 28 March 2020.

Miguel Antonio "Mikee" Reyes is a Filipino former professional basketball player who is a podcaster, media personality and sports analyst for One Sports. He was selected 11th overall by the TNT KaTropa in the 2016 PBA draft. He played college basketball for the UP Fighting Maroons.
