Sandane Church (Norwegian : Sandane kyrkje) is a parish church in Gloppen Municipality in Sogn og Fjordane county, Norway. It is located in the village of Sandane at the southern end of the Gloppefjorden. The church is part of the Vereide parish in the Nordfjord deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The concrete church building was completed in 1997 by the architect Helge Hjertholm. The church seats about 300 people. [1] [2]

Norwegian is a North Germanic language spoken mainly in Norway, where it is the official language. Along with Swedish and Danish, Norwegian forms a dialect continuum of more or less mutually intelligible local and regional varieties, and some Norwegian and Swedish dialects, in particular, are very close. Sogn og Fjordane is a county in western Norway, bordering Møre og Romsdal, Oppland, Buskerud, and Hordaland. The county administration is in the village of Hermansverk in Leikanger municipality. The largest town in the county is Førde.

The two older churches each served different neighboring parishes, and when the new church was built, the two small parishes were merged into one parish. The white, wooden church, which has 450 seats, was consecrated on 23 August 1877 by Bishop Peter Hersleb Graah Birkeland. The architect Haakon Thorsen made the designs for the building.

The white, wooden church, which has 261 seats, was consecrated on 24 October 1861 by the Dean Thomas Erichsen. The local Vicar Harald Ulrik Sverdrup made the architectural designs for the building. This church was built in 1861 to replace an 800-year-old stave church.
