The 1920 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the VII Olympiad and commonly known as Antwerp 1920, were an international multi-sport event held in 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium.

Rehan Jahangir Poncha is a six-time national champion Indian swimmer, Olympian and Arjuna Award winner, who specialized in backstroke, butterfly, and individual medley events. He is also the recipient of the Eklavya Award from the Karnataka Olympic Association. He is a 6-time Indian swimming champion, and a 6-time record holder in the butterfly. Poncha also set two of his records in the freestyle and medley relays at the 2009 Asian Swimming Championships in Foshan, China, along with his teammates Sandeep Sejwal, Virdhawal Khade, and Aaron D'Souza.
Sandeep Kumar is an amateur Indian-born Australian freestyle wrestler, who played for the men's light heavyweight category. Kumar moved to Melbourne, Australia permanently in 2004 to pursue more opportunities in the sport of wrestling, and officially granted a citizenship three years later. He also worked as a taxi driver in order to raise funds for his trip to the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Kumar is the brother of Anil Kumar, who competed in the same discipline at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.

The Maldives competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the nation's eighth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics. He played as a defender for India from 1992 to 1999 and captained the country during his last years in 1999. He competed in the men's tournament at the 1996 Summer Olympics at Atlanta. He also played in the Asian Games in 1994 and 1998, winning the gold in his second appearance at Bangkok, and he represented India in Champions Trophy in 1995 and 1996 at home in Madras. He also played two World Cups in 1994 in Sydney and under coach Vasudevan Baskaran in 1998 at Utrecht, the Netherlands.
