Ranjanatai Jadhav, also known as Sanjana (born 1983) [1] is an Indian politician from Maharashtra. She was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Kannad representing the Shiv Sena [2] [3] winning the 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election.

Early life and education

Sanjana is from Kannad, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar District, Maharashtra. She is the daughter of former union minister Raosaheb Danve and wife of two time MLA Harshvardhan Raibhan Jadhav. [4] She completed her bachelor of arts in 2005 at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. [1]

Career

Jadhav won from Kannad Assembly constituency representing Shiv Sena, and backed by ruling Mahayuti alliance, in the 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election. She polled 84,492 votes and defeated her nearest rival, husband and sitting MLA, [5] Harshvardhan Raibhan Jadhav an independent politician, by a margin of 18,201 votes. [6] [7]

The 2024 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election was held on 20 November 2024 to elect all 288 members of the state's Legislative Assembly to elect 288 members of the 15th Maharashtra Legislative Assembly. The turnout for the election was 66.05%, the highest since 1995. The ruling Maha Yuti won a landslide victory ,winning 235 seats and none of the parties in the Maha Vikas Aghadi had sufficient seats to get the position of leader of opposition, the first time in six decades this has occurred. The elections were held under first-past-the-post voting.
