Dr. Bezbarua is a 1969 Indian Assamese language thriller film, the first film of this genre in the language, directed by Brajen Barua and produced by Rangghar Cine Productions. The film was released on 7 November 1969. It was marked as the beginning of success of so-called commercial movies in Assamese Film industry. It was also first time the outdoor and indoor shooting entirely took place in various locations of Assam.
Aideu is an Assamese film produced by the Nagaon-based organization Trinayan Media Foundation and directed by Arup Manna. It was released at the Mumbai International Film Festival on 8 February 2007 and screened at the Pune International Film Festival, Delhi Habitat Film Fest and the 25th Munich International Film Festival. The film was shot in 16 mm format with a modest budget of Rs 1,600,000.
The Prag Cine Awards 2013 ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honored the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2012 from Assam and took place on 14 April 2013, at the GMCH Auditorium in Guwahati, India. Bollywood director Kalpana Lajmi, actors Pooja Bhatt, Adil Hussain were present at the event while veteran Assamese actor Pranjal Saikia and Zerifa Wahid hosted the show.

The Prag Cine Awards North-East 2015 ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honored the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2014 from Assam and rest of Northeast India, and took place on 21–22 March 2015, at the Chowkidingee field in Dibrugarh, Assam. This was the first time when films produced in other Northeastern states were also honored in this ceremony. Assamese actress Nishita Goswami and television host Nabish Alam hosted the show. Rajni Basumatary is an Indian filmmaker, screenwriter, producer and actor from Assam, India. She debuted as a director in 2014 with the Assamese language drama film Raag. Her third directorial film Gorai Phakhri premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival in 2023. It won Best Film at the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival under the Indian Language Films category. She was awarded Best Director at the 6th Sailadhar Baruah Awards. The film won the Gautama Buddha Award for Best Narrative Feature Film at the Nepal International Film Festival. She was awarded the Director's Vision Award at the 21st Indian Film Festival Stuttgart.
Eli Ahmed is an Indian writer, scriptwriter, director, lyricist, costume designer, actress and social activist. She is also the editor, publisher and proprietor of ‘Orani’, the women's magazine. It is the only women's magazine in the Northeast since 1970. She had also organised the first women's drama group in Assam in 1967. She was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2017 for her contribution to literature and education.
Maj Rati Keteki is a 2017 Indian Assamese drama film written and directed by Santwana Bardoloi. The film stars Adil Hussain in the lead role. Hussain wins National Film Award – Special Mention at 64th National Film Awards for acting in this film.
Prag Cine Awards North-East 2017 is a ceremony, presented by the Prag Network, honoured the actors, technical achievements, and films censored in 2016 from Assam and rest of Northeast India, took place on 17–18 June 2017 at Kokrajhar, Assam.
The 29th International Film Festival of India was held from 10 to 20 January 1998 in New Delhi. The competitive edition was restricted to Asian Directors.
Rajdweep is an Indian screenwriter, playwright, lyricist and journalist hails from Dhing, Nagaon, Assam. He has been awarded by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan for his script 'Ishqlogy' at Cinestaan India's Storyteller's Script Contest in 2018. He is the first lyricist from Assam who writes Assamese songs in Bollywood film. He wrote the songs 'Jiri Jiri' for the film A Death In The Gunj and the bihu song for the film Jagga Jasoos. Again, he becomes the first screenwriter from Assam who signed a Bollywood film. He signed the film on 21 October 2019.
Dr. Bezbaruah 2 is an Indian Assamese-language suspense thriller film released on 3 February 2023 which is a sequel of Dr. Bezbarua, released 53 years previous. Dr. Bezbaruah 2 is directed by late Assamese actor Nipon Goswami who was also the lead actor of Dr. Bezbarua. The story, screenplay and dialogues are written by Rajdweep and music by Zubeen Garg. It is produced by Sanjive Narain and co-produced by Akshata Narain under the banner AM Television. It is the 4th highest grossing Assamese film.
