Pentatomidae is a family of insects belonging to the order Hemiptera, generally called shield bugs or stink bugs. Pentatomidae is the largest family in the superfamily Pentatomoidea, and contains around 900 genera and over 4700 species. As hemipterans, the pentatomids have piercing sucking mouthparts, and most are phytophagous, including several species which are severe pests on agricultural crops. However, some species, particularly in the subfamily Asopinae, are predatory and may be considered beneficial.
Claude Marie Jules Bourcier was a French naturalist.
Martial Étienne Mulsant was a French entomologist and ornithologist.
Staphylinoidea is a superfamily of beetles. It is a very large and diverse group with worldwide distribution.
Pentatominae is a subfamily of Pentatomidae, a family of shield bugs. This subfamily is the largest one within the pentatomidae, having 4937 species. classified in 938 genera. Species on this subfamily are phytophages and several of them have been considered agricultural pests. Some invasive pentatomines such as Halyomorpha halys and Bagrada hilaris have been considered household pests, even inflicting adventitious bites. Higher systematics of the group has been revised by Rider et al.
Ochodaeidae, also known as the sand-loving scarab beetles, is a small family of scarabaeiform beetles occurring in many parts of the world.
Lamiinae, commonly called flat-faced longhorns, are a subfamily of the longhorn beetle family (Cerambycidae). The subfamily includes over 750 genera, rivaled in diversity within the family only by the subfamily Cerambycinae.
Lepturinae, the lepturine beetles, is a subfamily of the longhorn beetle family (Cerambycidae), containing about 150 genera worldwide. This lineage is most diverse in the Northern Hemisphere. Until recently the subfamily Necydalinae was included within the lepturines, but this has been recently recognized as a separate subfamily. Nine tribes are usually recognized today, with a tenth, Caraphiini, created in 2016. A few genera are of uncertain placement within the subfamily.
Cryptolaemus montrouzieri, common name mealybug ladybird or mealybug destroyer, is a ladybird species.
Melandryidae is a family of false darkling beetles in the order Coleoptera. There are at least 40 genera and 100 described species in Melandryidae.
Salpingidae or narrow-waisted bark beetles is a family of beetles, in the large suborder Polyphaga. The species are small, about 1.5 – 7 mm in length. This family is worldwide distributed and consists of about 45 genera and 300 species.
Callidiini is a tribe of beetles in the subfamily Cerambycinae, containing the following genera:
Clytini is a tribe of beetles in the subfamily Cerambycinae, containing the following genera:
Alleculinae is a subfamily of comb-clawed beetles belonging to the family Tenebrionidae. These beetles are characterized by an oval body, threadlike antennae, relatively long legs and tarsi quite elongated. Their most striking feature, however, are the combed claws of the hind tarsi, that show fine teeth.
Mordellinae is a subfamily of beetles commonly known as tumbling flower beetles for the typical irregular movements they make when escaping predators, or as pintail beetles due to their abdominal tip which aids them in performing these tumbling movements.
The Aleocharinae are one of the largest subfamilies of rove beetles, containing over 12,000 species. Previously subject to large-scale debate whether the subfamily deserved the familial status, it is now considered one of the largest subfamilies of rove beetles.
Coccinellinae is a subfamily of lady beetles in the family Coccinellidae. There are at least 20 genera and 90 described species in Coccinellinae.
Saperdini is a tribe of longhorn beetles of the subfamily Lamiinae.
Scymninae is a subfamily of beetles in the family Coccinellidae. There are at least 170 described species in Scymninae.
Psammodiini is a tribe of aphodiine dung beetles in the family Scarabaeidae. There are about 12 genera and at least 50 described species in Psammodiini.
