Sapudi Islands are a group of 14 islands that lie between Madura Island and the Kangean islands of Indonesia. It is part of the Greater Sunda Islands and is located in the Java Sea. The Sapudi Islands are administered as three kabupaten (districts) of Sumenep Regency in the province of East Java. The land area is 167.38 km2, and there was a population of 82,024 at the 2010 Census [2] and 85,284 at the 2020 Census, [3] but the official estimate for mid 2022 showed a decline to 77,153. [1] The Sapudi dialect of the Madurese language is spoken on the islands.
Nonggunong District includes the northern half of Sapudi Island (Pulau Sapedi) and the small offshore islands of Manok and Payangan. Gayam District includes the southern half of Sapudi Island. Raas District comprises 11 islands further east, of which the main are Raas, Ketupat and Tonduk. The main settlement on Sapudi Island (Nonggunong District) is Sonok, while on Raas Island, the main settlement is at Brakas in the east.
Serang Regency is a regency of Banten province, Indonesia. It is located in the northwest corner of the island of Java. The administrative center of the regency is at Ciruas, while the capital of the province is the independent municipality of Serang which was split off the regency on 17 July 2007.
The Obi Islands are a group of 42 islands in the Indonesian province of North Maluku, north of Buru and Ceram, and south of Halmahera. The Kangean Islands or simply Kangean is a collective name for a group of islands lying to the east of Madura. Kangean and its surrounding islands lie to the north of Bali in the northern Bali Sea, to the northwest of the Lesser Sunda Islands, and administratively they form three districts within Sumenep Regency, East Java Province. The group comprises a total of 91 islands including 27 inhabited islands. Kangean is located approximately 120 km (75 mi) in the north of Bali, the northwest of Lombok, and 120 km east of Madura. The biggest and most populous district is Arjasa, which includes the town of that name located in the west of the island. The Kangean Islands have a relatively large potential for natural resources, such as natural gas, teak, coconut, and salt production.
Jombang Regency is a regency of East Java, Indonesia, situated to the southwest of Surabaya. The capital of the regency is the town of Jombang. The regency has an area of 1,159.48 km2 and population of 1,202,407 at the 2010 census and 1,318,062 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,335,972. Bantul is a regency located in the Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is located on the island of Java. The regency's population was 911,503 at the 2010 Census, but has risen to 985,770 at the 2020 Census and to 1,013,170 at the official estimates for mid 2022 - comprising 504,133 males and 509,037 females. Like many regencies on the island of Java, it is densely populated with roughly 1,999 people per square kilometre in 2022, although this is largely because the north of the regency partly surrounds the city of Yogyakarta and contains many suburban communities, notably in the densely-populated districts of Banguntapan, Sewon and Kasihan.
Karimunjawa Islands or Karimunjava Islands is an archipelago of 27 islands in the Java Sea, Indonesia, approximately 80 kilometres northwest of Jepara. They have a total land area of 45.62 km2. The main island is known as Karimun, while the second-largest island is Kemujan.
Bangkalan Regency is a regency of East Java province in Indonesia. The seat of its government is the town of Bangkalan. The regency is located on the west side of Madura Island, bordering with Sampang Regency to the east, Java Sea to the north and Madura Strait to the west and the south sides. It covers an area of 1,260.14 km2, and had a population of 906,761 at the 2010 census and reached 1,060,377 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,086,620 – comprising 535,522 males and 551,098 females.
Lamongan Regency is a regency of East Java Province of Indonesia. It has a total land area of approximately 1,812.8 km2 (699.9 sq mi) or + 3.78% of the area of East Java Province. With a length of 47 km (29 mi) along the coastline, the sea area of Lamongan Regency is about 902.4 km2 (348.4 sq mi), if calculated to a distance of 12 miles (19 km) across the ocean surface. At the 2010 census it had a population of 1,179,059; the 2020 Census produced a total of 1,379,628 and the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,386,941. The regency seat is the town of Lamongan.
Pamekasan Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of the province of East Java, Indonesia. It is located on Madura Island approximately 120 kilometres (75 mi) east of Surabaya, the provincial capital. The regency covers an area of 792.30 square kilometres (305.91 sq mi), and at the 2010 census it had a population of 795,918 ; at the 2020 census the total was 850,057 and the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 857,818 – comprising 420,612 males and 437,206 females. The administrative capital is the town of Pamekasan.
Sampang Regency is a regency of East Java province, Indonesia. It is situated on Madura Island, bordering on Pamekasan Regency to the east, the Java Sea to the north, Bangkalan Regency to the west and Madura Strait to the south. It covers an area of 1,233.3 km2, and had a population at the 2010 census of 877,772 and at the 2020 census of 969,694; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 984,162 - comprising 488,673 males and 495,489 females. The administrative centre is the port of Sampang, on the south coast of Madura.
Situbondo Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of East Java province, Indonesia. It covers an area of 1,638.50 km2, and had a population of 647,619 at the 2010 Census and 685,967 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 673,102. It is located towards the eastern end of Java, before Banyuwangi. The administrative centre is Situbondo, a small town within the regency. One of the famous tourist sites is Baluran National Park.
Sumenep Regency is a regency of the East Java province, Indonesia. It has an area of 2,093.59 km2 and a population of 1,042,312 inhabitants according to the 2010 census ; the 2020 census resulted in a total of 1,124,436. The official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,135,903. The regency occupies the eastern end of Madura island and also includes numerous islands to the east, the north, and the south of Madura. It is bordered by the Pamekasan Regency to the west, Madura Strait to the south, and the Java Sea to the north and east. Its administrative capital is Sumenep. The airport nearby is Trunojoyo Airport with flights to Surabaya.
Indramayu Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of West Java province of Indonesia. It covers an area of 2,099.42 km2, and had a population of 1,663,737 at the 2010 census and 1,834,434 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,871,832. The town of Indramayu is its capital.
Ngawi Regency is an inland regency (kabupaten) of Indonesia, on the island of Java. Ngawi is well known around the world for its Pithecantropus erectus that was found by Eugene Dubois, a Dutchman. Ngawi is located in East Java Province, but adjoins Central Java province. Its capital Ngawi (city). Ngawi is also the main gate to enter East Java province since there are intersections that connect Surabaya–Bojonegoro–Ngawi (city)–Solo–Jogja–Bandung–Jakarta. The Regency covers an area of 1,394.74 km2 (538.51 sq mi), and had a population of 817,765 at the 2010 census and 870,057 at the 2020 census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 877,432.
Rembang Regency is a regency on the extreme northeast coast of Central Java Province, on the island of Java in Indonesia. The regency covers an area of 1,036.70 km2 on Java, and it had a population of 591,359 at the 2010 Census and 645,333 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 650,770, of whom 327,196 were males and 323,574 were females. Its administrative capital is the town of Rembang.
Sragen Regency is a regency in the eastern part of Central Java province in Indonesia. It covers an area of 994.57 km2 and had a population of 858,266 at the 2010 Census and 976,951 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 992,243. Its capital is the town of Sragen, located about 30 km to the northeast of Surakarta. Sragen is bordered by East Java Province to the east.
East Lampung Regency is a regency (kabupaten) of Lampung Province, Sumatra, Indonesia. It has an area of 5,325.03 km2 and a population of 951,639 people at the 2010 census and 1,110,340 at the 2020 census. The official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,127,946. Tuban Regency is a regency in East Java province of Indonesia. The Dutch name of the regency is 'Toeban'. It covers an area of 1,839.94 sq. km, and had a population of 1,118,464 at the 2010 Census and 1,198,012 at the 2020 Census; the official estimate as at mid 2022 was 1,209,543. The administrative centre is the coastal town of Tuban. The regency is located in a strategic area, on the border of East Java with Central Java, passed by the main highway along the north coast of Java (Pantura). In ancient times, Tuban was the main port of Majapahit and was a center of Islamic spreading by Walisongo.
