Sarah Lianne Ayton OBE (born 9 April 1980 in Ashford, Surrey) is an English former professional sailor.
She won a gold medal in the Yngling sailing class in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, [1] together with Shirley Robertson and Sarah Webb, and another gold medal in the Yngling sailing class in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, together with Pippa Wilson and Sarah Webb.
She retired from competitive sailing in 2011, citing the competing demands of motherhood. [2]
In 2015 Ayton was the winner of the Female World Sailor of the Year Awards - "the highest award a sailor can receive in recognition of their outstanding achievements in the world of sailing". [3] [4]
Having been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2005 New Year Honours, Ayton was promoted to Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2009 New Year Honours. [5] [6] She is divorced from windsurfer Nick Dempsey. Together, they have two sons Thomas-Flynn, who was born on 28 June 2009 and Oscar-Flynn George who was born on 7 March 2012. Ayton is a patron of Meningitis UK. Ayton battled with meningococcal meningitis and septicaemia in 1995, when she was aged 14. In 2015 she visited Bosham sailing club, to present prizes at the racing prizegiving.
She retains an active interest in sport, including amateur horse racing. [7]
Shirley Ann Robertson, OBE DL is a British sailor and Olympic gold medallist. She is the first British woman to win an Olympic gold medal at consecutive games, Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004.

Hannah Louise Mills, is a British competitive sailor and two-time world champion in the Women's 470 class, having won in 2012 and 2019. Mills won a silver medal for Team GB with her crew Saskia Clark in the 2012 Olympics, she followed this up with a gold in the same event at both the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and, partnered by Eilidh McIntyre, the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Mills is currently the on-board Strategist for the Emirates Great Britain SailGP Team, competing at events around the world. In 2022, Mills and Sir Ben Ainslie launched Athena Pathway, a programme to help fast-track development for female and youth sailors. Athena Pathway has a team competing in the first ever Women’s America’s Cup, helmed by Mills, and has also put together the British Youth Team that will battle to retain the Youth America’s Cup after winning it at the last event in Bermuda in 2017.
Saskia Clark, is a British sailor and Olympic Gold medalist. She competed in the 2008 Summer Olympics and she was selected, along with Hannah Mills, to sail in the 470 Women's class for Team GB. They went on to win silver at the 2012 Olympic games and a gold medal at the 2016 games.

William Patrick Thomas O'Hara is an Irish sailor from Northern Ireland. He competed at the 1984 Summer Olympics and the 1988 Summer Olympics.
