In 2016, Ransome claimed that she possessed tapes of Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Richard Branson raping an underage girl, which she claimed were filmed on hidden cameras by Jeffrey Epstein for blackmail purposes. In 2019, Ransome admitted to fabricating the claim. [3] [4] The claim is cited to support conspiracy theories that Epstein was working for intelligence. [5]

In 2021, Ransome published her book Silenced No More: Surviving My Journey to Hell and Back. [2]

Association with Epstein

At age 22, Ransome moved to New York City after dropping out of university in Edinburgh, Scotland. Through a friend, she reportedly met Jeffrey Epstein, whom she was told would give money in return for massages. [6] According to Ransome, as the massages became more sexual, Epstein gave her a "huge apartment in Epstein’s building on the Upper East Side, along with a cell phone, a car-service account, and money for living expenses". [6] Ransome says Epstein offered to help get her into a fashion design school. [6] According to Ransome, she was subject to numerous rapes by Epstein, and alleges that Maxwell attempted to starve her. [2]

In 2016, Ransome told the New York Post that Epstein had used hidden cameras to film several high-profile men raping children, and named Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Richard Branson. Ransome claimed that Epstein had filmed these for blackmail purposes. However, in 2019, she admitted to fabricating the claim. [4] [3] According to a 2026 Business Insider article, Ransome's claim is tied claims that Epstein was working for intelligence by collecting compromising videos of high-profile figures for the purposes of blackmail. [5] According to The Times , both Ransome and Virginia Giuffre's claims about Epstein blackmailing people have been contradicted by FBI investigations. [7]

In 2021, Ransome published her book Silenced No More: Surviving My Journey to Hell and Back. [2] [8] She starred in the 2020 Netflix series, Filthy Rich . [9]

Other allegations

In 2017, she alleged that Epstein's former lawyer Alan Dershowitz had sexually assaulted her. Dershowitz denied having met her. He told The New Yorker that "the villain" was Ransome's lawyer, David Boies, who he said was "exploiting a crazy woman in order to get revenge against me". [6]

Documents released in the Epstein files show that in 2023, Ransome accused the video game developer Leslie Benzies of sexually assaulting her when they were acquainted in 2006. Responding to The Hollywood Reporter, a representative for Benzies said "these allegations are false. He had a consensual relationship with this person." [10]
