The Sassnitz campaign was a military campaign between Swedish and Prussian forces from 1757 to 1762, during the Seven Years' War. It took place around Sassnitz, in Pomerania. At the end of the campaign Sweden remained in control of the area.

The Bay of Pomerania is a basin in the southwestern Baltic Sea, off the Pomeranian shores of Poland and Germany. It stretches between the northernmost tip of the island of Rugia called Gellort northwest of Cape Arkona in the west, and the village of Jarosławiec in the east. In the south, it is bounded by the islands of Usedom/Uznam and Wolin, which separate it from the Szczecin Lagoon which is flown through by the Oder River, and is connected to the bay by three straits, the Dziwna, Świna, and Peenestrom.

Skane Jet Ocean-going catamaran

HSC Skane Jet is an Incat-built, ocean-going catamaran. It is one of the world's fastest car carrying passenger vessels and, as Cat-Link V, set the eastbound record for the fastest transatlantic journey. In 1998/1999, the ship sailed as Cat-Link V on the Århus-Kalundborg route in Denmark—then operated by Scandlines. From 1999 to 2005 it sailed as Mads Mols for Mols-linien. From 2005 to 2006 it was renamed Incat 049 by T&T Ferries in Trinidad and Tobago. In 2006 it was renamed Master Cat and has since been operating on the route between Kristiansand in Norway and Hanstholm in Denmark, later changed to Hirtshals, in the service of "Master Ferries". This company was merged with Fjord Line on 1 January 2008 and the ferry was renamed Fjord Cat.

The Continental Line is a 32-kilometre (20 mi) long railway between Malmö and Trelleborg in Sweden. At Trelleborg the railway terminates at a railway ferry quay allowing rail cars to be ferried to Sassnitz in Germany. A part of the railway is also part of the line between Malmö and Copenhagen via the Oresund Bridge. The first seven kilometers of the line are double track.

Jasmund is a peninsula of the island of Rügen in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is connected to the Wittow peninsula and to the Muttland main section of Rügen by the narrow land bridges Schaabe and Schmale Heide, respectively. Sassnitz, Sagard and the Mukran international ferry terminal are on Jasmund. Jasmund is also famous for the Rügen Chalk cliffs within the Jasmund National Park, a nature reserve in the northeast of Rügen island.

The Bornholm Tunnel is a proposed railway tunnel which would be built between the island of Bornholm, belonging to Denmark, and Scania in Sweden. The tunnel would provide a fixed link to the island, both using direct trains running from Copenhagen and with a motorail service to transport automobiles. The tunnel would be 40 kilometers (25 mi) long and provide a one-hour transit time for cars, including loading and unloading, and a two-hour service by rail to Copenhagen via the Ystad Line and the Øresund Line. The latter could be further reduced with construction of high-speed rail in southern Scania.

The Soviet Navy launched the Soviet submarine Baltic Sea campaign in 1942 to harass the strategic iron-ore traffic from neutral Sweden to Nazi Germany during World War II. The Soviet Union and the German Reich fought each other on the Eastern Front (1941-1945) during the war. The Allies also launched other operations - especially involving the Royal Navy - against the traffic.
