Jane's Addiction is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed in 1985. The band consists of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery. Jane's Addiction was one of the first bands from the early 1990s alternative rock movement to gain both mainstream media attention and commercial success in the United States.

Strays is the first album to feature bassist Chris Chaney. Porno for Pyros is an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California, in 1992, following the first break-up of Jane's Addiction. The band currently consists of Jane's Addiction members, Perry Farrell (vocals) and Stephen Perkins (drums), alongside Peter DiStefano (guitar) and Mike Watt (bass). Founding bass guitarist Martyn LeNoble was a member of the band between 1992 and 1995, and was initially committed to the band's reunion between 2022 and 2023.

Sessions from Room 4 is an EP released by the band Population 1, led by Extreme/DramaGods guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. The EP is the first official release from the band Population 1, which was previously just a solo project by Nuno Bettencourt. They had to change the name of the band, not once, but twice due to legal reasons. They were briefly known as Near Death Experience and subsequently DramaGods, under which they released their next and only album to date, "Love". "Sessions From Room 4" was released through the band's official website, and came with stickers and a limited edition autographed poster of the band.

Etty Lau Farrell is a Chinese American vocalist, dancer, and actress. She began working in the entertainment industry in Los Angeles, appearing in numerous music videos as well as nationally televised award shows. Etty was part of the original Pussycat Dolls, when the group, as a dance troupe, had a monthly residency at the Viper Room. In 1997, she toured with Jane’s Addiction on their "It’s my party tour", later dubbed the "Relapse Tour" where she met her future husband Perry Farrell. Etty's first major venture as a musician came in 2005 when she and Perry formed Satellite Party. Their debut album went in at #24 on the Billboard album chart. In 2008, Etty's vocals featured on the Twilight soundtrack. In 2010, she was one of the stars of Married to Rock, a TV series on the E! network.
Love is the second and final studio album from DramaGods, a project led by guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. Bettencourt is most remembered for being the guitarist in the band Extreme. Originally conceived as a double-album entitled "Love/Hate", the songs were combined into one album. It is not known what happened to the rest of the songs from these recording sessions, if they were ever fully recorded and produced, or just left as demos.

The album was the band's first since its 2003 release Strays and features TV on the Radio's multi-instrumentalist Dave Sitek contributing bass guitar alongside Chris Chaney. The album's release was preceded by singles "End to the Lies," released as a free download on April 7, 2011, and "Irresistible Force ," released August 3, 2011. Regarding the album's title, vocalist Perry Farrell said "I love being able to escape my past, even though my past was great. I just love the future even more."
