The School of Graduate Studies (SGS) is the graduate school at the University of Toronto in Ontario, Canada. It is the largest graduate school in Canada with more than 20,000 full-time students, [4] and offers master's and doctoral programs through most of the university's divisions and academic departments at all three campuses: St. George, Mississauga, and Scarborough. [5] SGS is affiliated with Massey College, an incorporated college that serves as a residence and community space for graduate students located at the St. George campus in downtown Toronto. [6]

Overview

Graduate programs at the university are organized in collaboration with various faculties and academic departments. It offers more than 175 programs in areas such as Architecture, Landscape, and Design, Biomedical Communications, Dentistry, Education, Forestry, Information, Law, Management (through the Rotman School of Management at St. George, Institute for Management & Innovation at UTM, and Department of Management at UTSC), Medical Radiation Sciences, Medicine, Nursing, Occupational Science & Occupational Therapy, Pharmacy, Physical Therapy, Public Health, Social Work, Speech-Language Pathology, and Theology. [7] Students in PhD and SJD programs receive an annual base funding amount of $40,000. [8]

Amid international student visa restrictions in the United States in 2025, the School of Graduate studies in partnership with the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy made a plan with Harvard University to allow international students from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government to complete their studies in Toronto. [9] [10]

Graduate Students' Union

The University of Toronto Graduate Students' Union (UTGSU or simply GSU) is the representative student committee for graduate students at all three campuses, founded in 1964. [11]
