Cole County is located in the central part of the U.S. state of Missouri. As of the 2020 census, its population was 77,279. Its county seat and largest city is Jefferson City, the state capital. The county was organized November 16, 1820 and named after pioneer William Temple Cole who built Cole's Fort in Boonville.
Eugene is an unincorporated community in extreme southwestern Cole County, Missouri, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population is 140. It is located 10 miles (16 km) east of Eldon on Route 17, approximately 3 miles (5 km) south of U.S. Route 54.

Marion is in the northwest corner of the county, in historic Marion Township, and very near the post-1845 county boundary line with Moniteau County. Millersburg is an unincorporated community in Callaway County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is located near the Boone-Callaway county line on the Owl Creek tributary of Cedar Creek. The Little Dixie Lake and Little Dixie Wildlife Management Area lie on Owl Creek just north of the community. It is on Missouri Route J about four miles south of I-70.
Wilton is an unincorporated community in southwest Boone County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is on the northeast bank of the Missouri River across from the Marion Bottoms Conservation Area. Ashland lies approximately six miles to the northeast on Missouri Route M and Sandy Hook lies across the Missouri three miles to the west in Moniteau County. The lone business in Wilton is the Riverview Store, which serves the local community and users on the Katy Trail.
Dixie is an unincorporated community in southwestern Callaway County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is located at the intersection of Missouri Routes BB and PP. It is on a ridge between Middle River to the east and Hillers Creek to the west. Jefferson City on the Missouri River lies 12 miles to the southwest.
Guthrie is an unincorporated community in western Callaway County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community lies at the intersection of Missouri routes J and Y. New Bloomfield lies two miles south on Route J and the Pine Ridge Recreation Area of the Mark Twain National Forest along Cedar Creek is four miles east on Route Y.

Moniteau Creek is a stream in Cooper, Moniteau and Cole counties in central Missouri. It is a tributary of the Missouri River. The stream headwaters are in western Moniteau County just west of Tipton. The stream flows north into Cooper County then turns east and flows through the southeastern part of the county and re-enters Moniteau County. The stream continues meandering east passing under Missouri Route 87 south of Jamestown and enters the Missouri River floodplain in the Marion Bottoms Conservation Area between Sandy Hook to the north and Marion to the south. The confluence with the Missouri River floodplain lies in the northern tip of Cole County.
Brush Creek is a stream in Cole and Miller counties of the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of South Moreau Creek.
Pleasant Mount or Mount Pleasant is an unincorporated community in Miller County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The historic community was located along the current Missouri Route FF on a hilltop approximately one-half mile north of the railroad line. The current community of Mount Pleasant or Mt Pleasant is just south of U.S. Route 54, about three miles northeast of Eldon at 38°22′05″N92°31′25″W.
Spring Garden is an unincorporated community in northeastern Miller County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community lies just north of Missouri Route 54, approximately 8.5 miles northeast of Eldon.
Sandy Hook is an unincorporated community in Moniteau County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is on the southwest bank of the Missouri River floodplain. It lies on Missouri Route 179 between Jamestown to the northwest and Marion to the southeast in Cole County.
Castle Rock is an extinct town in Osage County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The townsite lies is located on the inside curve of an incised meander of the Osage River. The Castle Rock formation for which it was named lies across the river to the north in Cole County just southeast of Wardsville. The Pikes Camp Wildlife Area lies to the west across the river.
