Scott McGregor (born April 1981) is an Australian model, television presenter and actor. McGregor worked as a model on the game show Temptation . He has also appeared in television commercials and print advertisements. From 2008, McGregor hosted the motoring show Blood, Sweat and Gears . As an actor, he has appeared in Underbelly , Winners & Losers and Offspring . McGregor joined the cast of Neighbours as Detective Mark Brennan in 2010. He departed the show the following year to pursue other career opportunities, before returning in 2013 for a guest stint. He returned in 2014 in a regular capacity, until his departure in 2019. He reprised the role once more the following year.

Early life

McGregor was born in Albury, New South Wales. [3] He has four brothers. [4] McGregor studied graphic design and worked part-time for Melbourne advertising company Visual Jazz. [4] He did some modelling while studying to earn extra money and meet new people. [3]

Career

Modelling

From 2005, McGregor worked as a model on the Nine Network programme Temptation . McGregor has done photo shoots for Men's Health Australia , Cleo , DNA and Boyfriend, as well as television commercials for a beer product and print advertisements for a range of products including clothing and underwear. [5] In 2006, McGregor was a contestant in Cleo's Bachelor of the Year contest. [5] McGregor was named one of fifty finalists in the 2011 contest. [6]

In 2016, McGregor became a brand ambassador for men's underwear company Noble by Noble. [7]

Acting and presenting

In January 2008, McGregor began presenting the motoring show Blood, Sweat and Gears on Foxtel's Fox8. [8] That same year, he appeared in an episode of Underbelly . [9] McGregor has also appeared in Carla Cametti PD (2009), [9] and the drama series Winners & Losers (2011). [10] In April 2012, McGregor made a guest appearance in Offspring . [11]

McGregor joined the cast of the soap opera Neighbours as Detective Detective Mark Brennan in 2010. [9] [12] McGregor was initially contracted for six months, but this was later extended to a year. [12] [13] McGregor left Neighbours in April 2011. [14] [15] He revealed that he wanted to pursue modelling opportunities in Europe and new acting roles. [16] [17] McGregor said he would not rule out returning to the show. [17]

On 4 November 2012, it was confirmed that McGregor would be returning to Neighbours in May 2013 for a brief stint. [18] McGregor reprised the role again in October 2013 and made his screen return in February 2014. [19] He appeared in a documentary special celebrating the show's 30th anniversary titled Neighbours 30th: The Stars Reunite , which aired in Australia and the UK in March 2015. [20] [21] In August 2019, it was announced that McGregor had decided to leave Neighbours for a second time. [22]

Personal life

McGregor dated his Temptation co-model Chelsea Butler from November 2006 to 2011. [23] [24] [25] In May 2016, McGregor became engaged to his partner Bianka Voigt. [26] On 27 March 2017, McGregor announced that he and Voigt were expecting their first child, [27] and Voigt gave birth to their daughter on 27 September 2017. [28] McGregor and Voigt married in January 2019. [26] Their second child, a son, was born in January 2020. [29]

McGregor's hobbies include surfing, AFL, cricket, golf, poker and music. [30]

In April 2019, McGregor was glassed by a stripper, Danielle Lee, during a verbal altercation at Hollywood Showgirls in Surfers Paradise, which left him with a cut lip. [31] During a hearing at Southport Magistrates Court on 20 August, the defence said McGregor was "intoxicated and verbally abusive" towards the exotic dancer, which he denied. [32] McGregor stated that he turned down a private dance, which is when the glass was thrown. He was unable to recall how much alcohol he had consumed, but he was not drunk. [32] The court also heard that McGregor "has a history of public drunkenness and aggression towards women, and police had previously been called to the Melbourne home of his ex-girlfriend." [32] The trial was adjourned until 8 October 2019. [32] Lee was found guilty. She was given a good behaviour bond and ordered to pay for McGregor's medical costs. [33]

In November 2022, McGregor was charged with one count of sexual assault after an alleged incident at the Esplanade Hotel in St Kilda on 20 February 2022. [34] In August 2023, McGregor was granted diversion in Melbourne Magistrates Court, keeping the charge out of the formal court system. Diversion means he did not plead guilty to the charge and was not formally found guilty. [35] Magistrate Simon Zebrowski refused to release details of the charge but described it as "one momentary very slight touch" and "a single non-sexual episode that was extraordinarily minor in the circumstances". [35] He ordered McGregor write a letter of gratitude to the police officer who recommended his case be diverted from court, a letter of apology to the complainant and make a $300 donation to the charity of his choice. If he complies by December, the case will be struck out. [35]

Ramsay Street is the fictional cul-de-sac in which the characters of the Australian soap opera Neighbours live. The street is set in the equally fictional Melbourne suburb of Erinsborough. Neighbours storylines primarily centre on the residents of the street, which was named after Jack Ramsay, the grandfather of original character Max Ramsay. A blackjack game between Jack and Sam Robinson determined whose name the street would be named after. Only six houses on the street are featured on a regular basis; numbers 22 to 32. Number 34 was featured for the only time in 2018. The cul-de-sac is at the end of a long street and the rest of the houses are on the other side of the main road which bisects it. The street behind Ramsay Street is named Mirrabooka Drive. A storyline within the show saw the name of the street nearly changed to Ramsbottom Street. Harold Bishop led a protest against it and won.

Erinsborough is the fictional suburb where the Australian soap opera Neighbours is set. The show focuses on the domestic and professional lives of the people who live and work in the suburb. Neighbours storyline primarily centres on the residents of Ramsay Street within other Erinsborough locations, namely The Waterhole, Harold's Café, Lassiters Hotel, Erinsborough High School and Erinsborough Hospital. Erinsborough, which is a loose anagram of Neighbours, was originally going to be named Erinsfield. Throughout much of the show's run it was not stated in which city of Australia Erinsborough was located. The rivalry between Sydney and Melbourne meant that scripts did not mention that Erinsborough was a suburb of the latter city until 1994. Since the 2000s it has been explicitly stated that Erinsborough is a suburb of Melbourne.

<i>Neighbours</i> Australian soap opera (1985–)

Neighbours is an Australian television soap opera, which has aired since 18 March 1985. It was created by television executive Reg Watson. The Seven Network commissioned the show following the success of Watson's earlier soap Sons and Daughters. Although successful in Melbourne, Neighbours underperformed in the Sydney market and was cancelled by Seven four months after it began airing. It was immediately commissioned by rival Network Ten for a second production season, which began screening on 20 January 1986. Neighbours became the longest-running drama series in Australian television history. In 2005, it was inducted into the Logie Hall of Fame.

Scott Ian Major is an Australian actor and TV and film director, known for his roles as Peter Rivers in the 1994 television teen drama series Heartbreak High and Lucas Fitzgerald in soap opera Neighbours. After leaving Neighbours in 2013, Major returned to direct over 200 episodes of the serial. He has since gone on to direct episodes of Playing for Keeps, and two miniseries Lie With Me and Riptide. Major reprised his role as Rivers in the 2022 reboot of Heartbreak High.

Erin Mullally is an Australian actor and model best known for playing the role of Declan Napier in Neighbours. Mullally was cast in the role after original actor, James Sorensen, left the show. The character of Declan is Mullally's first major television role. After less than a year with Neighbours, it was announced that Mullally was to leave the show in March 2011.

Mark Brennan is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Scott McGregor. He made his first appearance during the episode broadcast on 30 August 2010. McGregor initially had a four-week guest contract, but this was increased to six months. Shortly after, it was announced that McGregor's contract had been extended again to twelve months and that he would become a regular cast member. McGregor departed the serial on 22 June 2011, after his contract was not renewed. He reprised his role for a brief return from 20 May 2013, before rejoining the regular cast on 5 February 2014. Episode 6188 is the 6188th episode of the Australian soap opera Neighbours. It premiered on Eleven on 22 June 2011. The episode was written by Sarah Mayberry, directed by Jonathon Dutton, and executively produced by Susan Bower. Episode 6188 revolves around Mark Brennan's departure from the soap. The storyline sees Mark tell his girlfriend, Kate Ramsay, that he is going into witness protection. He reveals that she has just 30 minutes to decide whether to stay behind in Erinsborough or leave with him. However, when she makes the choice to leave, she has trouble convincing her younger sister to come too.

Remy Hii is a Malaysian actor. Hii attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art for three years, and appeared in various theatre productions, before being cast in his first television role. Hii starred as Van Tuong Nguyen in the four-part miniseries Better Man and was cast as Hudson Walsh in the soap opera Neighbours in 2013. He is also known as Prince Jingim from the Netflix original series Marco Polo. From 2018 to 2019, Hii played Simon Van Reyk in the Australian television crime drama Harrow. "The Erinsborough Tornado" is a storyline from the Australian television soap opera Neighbours, which began on 29 August 2014 when a large storm hit the fictional suburb of Erinsborough and later developed into a tornado. The storyline was one of the dramatic events of Neighbours in 2014 and saw many characters' fates left in question, including long standing characters Paul Robinson and Lou Carpenter. The storyline was conceived following the success of 2013's wedding explosion and was shot in June 2014. Several wind and rain machines were used to create the storm and tornado effects. A promotional trailer for the storyline was released on 15 August 2014.

Travis Robert Burns is an Australian actor and model. He first came to prominence with his role in the American action-drama television series, SAF3 (2013). He played Tyler Brennan in the long-running Australian television soap opera Neighbours from 2015 to 2019. After leaving Neighbours, Burns starred in the romance film Sunrise in Heaven (2019) and television films The Wrong Boy Next Door (2019), The Christmas Listing (2020), and Save the Wedding (2021).

Aaron Brennan is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours, played by Matt Wilson. The actor originally auditioned for the role of Tyler Brennan and participated in a long casting process, during which he sent the producers a recording of himself performing a scene, before attending an audition. Producers ultimately selected Travis Burns to play Tyler, but created the additional role of Aaron for Wilson. Like Tyler, Aaron was introduced as the brother of established character Mark Brennan. Wilson relocated from Sydney to Melbourne for filming, and debuted four months after Tyler's arrival, on 16 June 2015. The character was initially intended to be a guest part, but due to Wilson's "endearing quality", he was promoted to the full-time cast.

Timothy Robards is an Australian actor, chiropractor, model, and television personality. Robards worked as a chiropractor for seven years, before he was cast in the first season of The Bachelor Australia. He chose Anna Heinrich in the finale. The couple later appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in 2015. Robards took part in the fifteenth season of Dancing with the Stars and appeared on Australian Ninja Warrior. In 2018, Robards had a guest role in soap opera Neighbours as Pierce Greyson, which led to him joining the regular cast in 2019. Outside of television, Robards has worked as a model, and has developed a fitness program called The Robards Method.

<i>Neighbours</i> 35th Anniversary Episode of Neighbours

Neighbours celebrated its 35th Anniversary during the week comprising 16–20 March 2020. This consisted of the five regular weekday episodes as well as five extra episodes as part of a series titled Neighbours: Endgame, aired as the second part to the regular episodes.
