Scum Pups were a grunge, [1] punk rock, [2] three piece band, [3] that formed in Leicester, [4] England in November 1989. The band formed while at sixth form college with Matt Day (Midge) [5] heading the trio. The band recorded their first single EP with Hinckley-based Motivate Records [6] while still teenagers in September 1990. This led to a strong teenage fanbase with a reputation for enjoying stage diving and moshing at their gigs.

The band quickly gathered a strong fanbase after being signed to Nottingham label Sycophant Records [7] [8] and began appearing with the likes of Fudge Tunnel, Silverfish and Daisy Chainsaw. [9] It was while with Sycophant Records, the band released their first 'mini' album Babykill, [1] which held No.17 in the Melody Maker indie album charts, during March 1992. [10]

The band signed with Stayfree Music in 1992 and embarked on touring with Crazyhead. [11] During 1992 the band released their second EP "Shudder" [9] on Stayfree, with added sponsorship from N.T.V. Music. It was at this stage that the founder bass player Clive Cartwright left, to be replaced by Marcus (Pepper) Hessin. [12]

The band spent the remaining 18 months touring up and down the country with the likes of Headcleaner and Zodiac Mindwarp and the Love Reaction [13] as well as touring in France. [12] In 1993 the band released a further album Sonic Sculptures, and shared an EP single with Doncaster based band, FUSE; but on return from a further tour in France during February 1994, the band decided to split.

The band had two distinct styles during its four years of activity. The band was initially described as grunge, grebo or metal, [1] but from 1992 onwards, the band took a distinctive turn towards a more glam rock/punk [2] approach, with elements of pop [14] and rock thrown in. It was during this latter stage that their 5th member joined as a backing singer Janet Brown, adding a female touch to the band in 1993.

Motivate Records was the band's first label, distributed under Southern Records Distribution. Sycophant released their first mini-album in 1992, also distributed under S.R.D.

Stayfree Music based in Leicester, was run by the former frontman of The Hunters Club, Ian Redhead, and managed Scum Pups through to their eventual split in February 1994.

Creeper (band)

Creeper are an English rock band from Southampton. Formed in 2014, the group originally featured vocalist Will Gould, guitarists Ian Miles and Sina Nemati, bassist Sean Scott and drummer Dan Bratton. The band independently released their self-titled debut EP in 2014, before signing with Roadrunner Records and issuing a follow-up, The Callous Heart, the next year. At the end of 2015, Nemati was replaced by Oliver Burdett and touring keyboardist/vocalist Hannah Greenwood became an official member of the band. A third EP, The Stranger, was released in 2016 and reached the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart top ten.

<i>Marvin the Album</i> 1992 studio album by Frente!

Marvin the Album is the Australian folk-pop and alternative rock group Frente!'s debut album, released 24 November 1992, and recorded in 1992 at Platinum Studios in Melbourne, Australia. Music videos were made for the tracks "Accidently Kelly Street" [sic], "Ordinary Angels" and "No Time", each of which were also released as singles. Additional videos were made for "Lonely" and "Bizarre Love Triangle" when these tracks were appended to the international release.

The Kings of Frog Island are a stoner rock collective drawing from psychedelic, stoner, and retro rock traditions. The Kings of Frog Island formed in Leicester, England in 2003, as a collaboration between guitarist and producer Mark Buteux along with R. "Doj" Watson, a founding member of the grunge/punk group Scum Pups and Mat Bethancourt, of the rock bands Josiah and The Beginning. The band released their debut, self-titled album with German-based Elektrohasch Records in 2005. Work on the first album involved some input from guest artists associated with members of the band's musical past, most notably, Matthew (Midge) Day of Scum Pups. Mathew Bethancourt left The Kings Of Frog Island in 2010 to concentrate on Cherry Choke, while Mark Buteux, Gavin Searle, Gavin Wright, Tony Heslop and Roger ‘Doj’ Watson continued work producing a fourth, fifth and sixth album as The Kings of Frog Island. They run Amphibia Sound Studios VI and are working on forthcoming projects and collaborations with Bulletree Filmes of Brazil.

"Fear of the Dark" is a song by British heavy metal band Iron Maiden. Written by Steve Harris, the band's bass player and primary songwriter, it serves as the title track to Iron Maiden's 1992 album Fear of the Dark.

The Hunters Club were a British grebo gothic rock band that formed in Leicester, England.

Mark Crozer is an English musician. He grew up in Oxford, England, attending Cherwell School and later became a touring member of the Scottish alternative rock band The Jesus and Mary Chain.

Furthest Drive Home were a four-piece pop and rock band from Farnham, England, which formed in 2003. The band released their EP Lost in Genre in the summer of 2005, before playing the side stage at Brighton's "Taste of Chaos" festival, alongside The Used, Killswitch Engage and Funeral For A Friend. In the same year Furthest Drive Home were featured on a special Drive-Thru Records, Pure Volume compilation album alongside Midtown and Gym Class Heroes with the song "Future Full of Jive", which was erroneously track listed as "Control Yourself".

See You All In Hell is the sixth extended play by post-hardcore band Funeral for a Friend. It was released on 7 November 2011 through Distiller Records in the United Kingdom. The first track "High Castles" was released as a digital single on 13 October 2011. By 15 November 2011 the album had received mixed to positive reception with Kerrang! giving the album a "Good" three out of five rating.

Crossfaith

Crossfaith is a Japanese metalcore band from Osaka that was formed in 2006. Since its formation, the band has retained the same line-up with no member changes, which currently consists of vocalist Kenta Koie, guitarist Kazuki Takemura, bassist Hiroki Ikegawa, drummer Tatsuya Amano and keyboardist Terufumi Tamano. They are characterized by performing a style of metalcore with dubstep and other forms of electronic music influences, and for their intense live performances.

Marmozets English rock band

Marmozets are an English rock band from Bingley, West Yorkshire, England. Formed in 2007, the band consists of Rebecca "Becca" Macintyre (vocals), Jack Bottomley (guitar), Sam Macintyre (guitar/vocals), Will Bottomley (bass/vocals) and Josh Macintyre (drums). Marmozets signed to Roadrunner Records in October 2013 and released their debut album on 29 September 2014. Their second album, Knowing What You Know Now, was released on 26 January 2018.

Sycophant Records

Sycophant Records was a Nottingham based Independent label that published its first vinyl single release in 1990 for a local band called Meatfly. This release followed with more signings and releases from the likes of Force Fed, Skink, Pitchshifter, and the Scum Pups, to name but a few.

Milk Teeth were a British punk rock band from Stroud, Gloucestershire, which formed in May 2013. The band announced their split on Facebook and Twitter on 4th September 2020.

Trash Boat

Trash Boat is a British punk rock band formed in St Albans in 2014. The group consists of Tobi Duncan (vocals), Dann Bostock, Ryan Hyslop, James Grayson (bass), and Oakley Moffatt (drums).

<i>Creeper</i> (EP) 2014 EP by Creeper

Creeper is the self-titled debut EP by English rock band Creeper. Recorded at The Ranch Production House in Southampton with producer Neil Kennedy, it was originally released independently as a digital download on 19 June 2014, before it was later issued on limited edition 12" vinyl by Palm Reader Records on 8 December 2014. "Gloom" and "VCR" were released as music videos.

<i>The Callous Heart</i> 2015 EP by Creeper

The Callous Heart is the second EP by English rock band Creeper. Recorded with producer Neil Kennedy at The Ranch Production House in Southampton, it was originally released in the UK on 18 September 2015 as the band's first release since signing with major label Roadrunner Records in June 2015. The EP was later issued internationally on 15 January 2016.

<i>The Stranger</i> (EP) 2016 EP by Creeper

The Stranger is the third EP by English rock band Creeper. Recorded at The Ranch Production House in Southampton with producer Neil Kennedy, it was released on 19 February 2016 by Roadrunner Records. The EP was the band's first release to chart, reaching the top ten of the UK Rock & Metal Albums Chart. "Black Mass" and "Astral Projection" were released as music videos.

Like Pacific

Like Pacific is a Canadian rock band from Toronto, Ontario, formed in 2010. Their debut studio album Distant Like You Asked was released in February 2016, and charted at number 25 on the Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart.
