Scythia is a Canadian folk/progressive metal band. In 2008, lead singer and guitarist Dave Khan formed a group based in Vancouver called Thorgen Hellhammer's Orc Rampage. Bassist Terry Savage joined the band at an open mic night. The group toured and recorded an album before breaking up. Scythia was formed soon afterwards. [1] Savage was the only British Columbia native in the group. Khan grew up in Ontario and moved to British Columbia to attend university. Drummer Celine Derval was born in France, grew up in Montreal and came west with her family. Oboist Morgan Zentner was born in the United States and lived in Montreal for a while before moving west to attend school. [2]

The band relocated to Calgary in 2013. Zentner left the group at that time. [3] AJ "Ireheart" Bergin joined the group as a second guitarist in 2013. Keyboardist Jeff Black became the fifth member of the group. [4]

Scythia was nominated for a Sirius XM Indie Award for Metal Group of the Year in 2013. [5]

The group's 2013 video "Bear Claw Tavern" premiered on the Guitar World web site. [6]

They have disbanded as of 2018.

Canadian hardcore punk

Canadian hardcore punk originated in the early 1980s. It was harder, faster, and heavier than the Canadian punk rock that preceded it. Hardcore punk is a punk rock music genre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. The origin of the term "hardcore punk" is uncertain. The Vancouver-based band D.O.A. may have helped to popularize the term with the title of their 1981 album, Hardcore '81. Sultans of String

Sultans of String are an instrumental music group based in Toronto, Ontario, combining elements of Spanish flamenco, Arabic folk, Cuban rhythms, and French Manouche Gypsy-jazz. The group's leader is producer and Canadian musician Chris McKhool. Berardo is a notable alumni of the Iona Preparatory School in New Rochelle, New York. His songwriting and performing career began while attending Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. Otherwise (band)

Otherwise is an American hard rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada. They have released four full-length albums on the Sony Music-owned label Century Media Records, titled True Love Never Dies (2012), Peace at All Costs (2014) Sleeping Lions (2017) and Defy (2019). Prior to signing their record deal with Century Media, as an unsigned band they released one self-titled full-length album (2006) and one EP titled Some Kind of Alchemy (2009). Heaven were a British jazz-influenced rock band from Portsmouth who appeared at the Isle of Wight Festivals in 1969 and 1970, when managed by festival compere Rikki Farr. The band released one album in 1971 before splitting up.
