Bucharest is the capital and largest city of Romania. The metropolis stands on the River Dâmbovița in south-eastern Romania. Its population is officially estimated at 1.76 million residents within a greater metropolitan area of 2.3 million residents, which makes Bucharest the 8th most-populous city in the European Union. The city area measures 240 km2 (93 sq mi) and comprises 6 districts (Sectoare), while the metropolitan area covers 1,811 km2 (699 sq mi). Bucharest is a beta global city, a major cultural, political and economic hub, and the country's seat of government.
Compania Română de Aviație Romavia R.A., usually referred to as Romaviaand also known as Romanian Aviation Company, was a state airline from Romania, owned and controlled by the Romanian Ministry of National Defence. It operated VIP and charter flights, serving the demands of the Romanian state and its politicians. Romavia had its headquarters in Bucharest, with the base for its flight operations being located at the city's airports Henri Coandă and Băneasa.

Its name is related to the Wallachian aristocratic Văcărescu family, with an etymology leading back to the Romanian văcar, "cow-herder," and the suffix -ești.

It is also the most important of all six sectors of Bucharest, as it includes the Downtown Bucharest, the Kilometre Zero and other significant landmarks. It is bordered by Sector 2 to the North, Ilfov County to the East, Sector 4 to the South, Sector 5 to the Southwest, and Sector 1 to the Northwest.

Ion Costache Frimu was a Romanian socialist militant and politician, a leading member of the Social Democratic Party of Romania (PSDR) and labor activist. He died after being beaten and contracting an illness in prison, where he was being held for his participation in the typographic workers' demonstration of December 1918.
Emil Răzvan Theodorescu was a Romanian historian and politician. He researched and wrote extensively on art history in particular. A member of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), he was a member of the Romanian Senate for Iași County from 2000 to 2004, and for Botoșani County from 2004 to 2008. In the Adrian Năstase cabinet, he was Minister of Culture and Religious Affairs from 2000 to 2004.
Tineretului is a small neighborhood in south Bucharest, Romania in Sector 4, close to the city center, named after the nearby Tineretului Park. It is one of the preferred neighborhoods by people seeking to buy an apartment. This is due to the well established public transportation, two nearby parks; along with banks, commercial spaces and schools. In 2015 there were 17,981 people registered living in this area.
Nicușor Dan is a Romanian activist, mathematician, former member of the Chamber of Deputies of Romania as well as founder and former leader of the Romanian political party Save Romania Union (USR). He is currently serving as the Mayor of Bucharest following his successful re-election campaign in the 2024 Romanian local elections as an independent politician.
Lake Văcărești is a lake in the south of Bucharest, Sector 4. The lake has a surface of 140.5 hectares. It is now part of the Văcărești Nature Park, a protected zone of nature. Over 100 species of wild birds and animals live in this area. The area is nicknamed Bucharest Delta.
Dumitru Almaș was a Romanian journalist, novelist, historian, writer and professor. His prolific output included children's literature, historical novels and textbooks. He was honored by both the Romanian Writers' Society and the subsequent Writers' Union of Romania. He also served as a member of the board of Society for Historical Sciences of Romania.
Văcărești Nature Park is a nature park located in Sector 4 of Bucharest, Romania, containing the wetlands surrounding Lake Văcărești.

Lake Tineretului is an anthropic lake located in Bucharest, Sector 4, situated in Tineretului Park, covering an area of 13 hectares. The park's designer, Valentin Donose, proposed the creation of a large lake, naturally fed by the groundwater, featuring three islands, two of which are connected to the shore by small bridges. The lake is monitored by birdwatchers from Bucharest due to the presence of rare bird species that use the area for feeding or resting during migrations and winter.
