Selim Sırrı Tarcan Sport Hall (Turkish : Ankara Selim Sırrı Tarcan Spor Salonu) is an indoor arena for volleyball matches located in Altındağ district of Ankara, Turkey. Named after Selim Sırrı Tarcan (1874-1956), founder of the National Olympic Committee of Turkey and a major contributor to volleyball sport in Turkey, the venue has a seating capacity of 2,500 spectators. Turkish, also referred to as Istanbul Turkish, is the most widely spoken of the Turkic languages, with around 10–15 million native speakers in Southeast Europe and 60–65 million native speakers in Western Asia. Altındağ is a metropolitan district of Ankara Province in the Central Anatolia region of Turkey, part of the city of Ankara. According to the 2000 census, the population of the district is 407,101, of which 400,023 live in the urban center of Altındağ. The district covers an area of 175 km2 (68 sq mi), and the average elevation is 850 m (2,789 ft).
Ankara, historically known as Ancyra and Angora, is the capital of Turkey. With a population of 4,587,558 in the urban center (2014) and 5,150,072 in its province (2015), it is Turkey's second largest city after Istanbul, having outranked İzmir in the 20th century.
Designed by architect Gündüz Güngen, its construction began in 1958 and completed in 1964. The sport hall was commissioned by the Turkish State Railways (TCDD), however it was handed over to the Directorate of Physical Education after 5–6 months of its opening. In April 2006, the venue was transferred to the Turkish Volleyball Federation for a time span of 49 years. [1]

The Turkish Volleyball Federation (TVF) is the governing body of volleyball and beach volleyball in Turkey. Formed in 1958, it is based in Ankara. The TVF is a member of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and the European Volleyball Confederation (CEV). Federation's president is Mehmet Akif Ustundag since November 21, 2016.
The venue is home to İller Bankası Women's Volleyball, which plays in the Turkish Women's Volleyball League.
İller Bankası Women's Volleyball, shortly İlbank, is a women's volleyball team of İller Bankası Youth and Sports Club in Ankara, Turkey, sponsored by the Turkish state-owned bank of İller Bankası. Founded in 1995, the club's colors are blue and gold. The team is playing its home matches at the Selim Sırrı Tarcan Sport Hall.
The Turkish Women's Volleyball League is the highest professional women's volleyball league in Turkey. It is run by the Turkish Volleyball Federation and began with the 1983–84 season. 12 clubs are currently participating in the league. It is often regarded as the best professional women's volleyball league in the world. Its clubs have obtained significant successes in European and other international competitions. Eczacıbaşı are the most successful club, having won 17 championships so far.
