Selland Arena is a multi-purpose arena built in 1966 that makes up part of a four-venue complex of the Fresno Convention and Entertainment Center in Fresno, California. It is named after former Fresno mayor Arthur L. Selland and has had over 10 million people walk through its doors in its over 50-year history. [4] The arena originally had a 6,582 seating capacity, but a US$10 million expansion project in 1981 increased the seating to its current capacity of 10,132. [4] Before the 1997-1998 Fresno State basketball season, capacity was increased to 10,220. [5] The Selland Arena underwent an additional $15 million renovation in November 2006, that included the installation of new seats, a new video replay scoreboard, message boards and a new ice-cooling system for hockey games. Currently, the arena is operated by ASM Global under contract from the City of Fresno.
The arena is home to the Fresno Monsters junior ice hockey team of the United States Premier Hockey League. On January 27, 2010, the Monsters hockey team agreed to a contract extension to play at the arena through the 2012–13 hockey season. The arena hosted a combined 32 home games between the organization's North American Hockey League (NAHL) and Western States Hockey League (WSHL) teams during the 2012–13 hockey season. After the 2012–13 season, the NAHL Monsters' franchise was relocated to Wenatchee, Washington, to take the place of the original Wenatchee Wild and the Tier III WSHL Monsters began playing at the lower capacity Gateway Ice Center. The WSHL Monsters returned to Selland in 2018 for 21 of their 23 home games in the 2018–19 season and then full-time in the 2019–20 season. [7] The Monsters left the WSHL and joined the USPHL after the 2019–20 season.
Selland Arena has hosted concerts, conventions, ice shows, youth sports, professional sports, motocross, rodeo, religious events, graduations, and community events.
Notable events that have taken place at the arena include: the tour opening July 19, 1974 Grateful Dead show, WWF Royal Rumble 1996, Fully Loaded 1998, concerts by many major rock and popular music groups and talents, including Kiss, Deep Purple, Yes, Elvis Presley, Elton John, Metallica, Aerosmith, Tina Turner, ABBA, David Bowie, Los Bukis, Sammy Hagar, and Garth Brooks.
Van Halen performed, on two consecutive nights, during their For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge Tour on May 14–15, 1992, which were recorded and later released as a live album, entitled Live: Right Here, Right Now .
It also has hosted the California Interscholastic Federation Central Section Basketball Finals since 2004.
California Future Farmers of America Association hosted its annual State Conference. The last conference was hosted in April 2017. The leadership conference was moved to Anaheim Convention Center for the years 2018 and 2019, and to Sacramento for the years 2020 and 2021, as Selland Arena was too small for it to keep hosting the annual conference.
The Cajundome is a 13,500-seat multi-purpose arena located in Lafayette, Louisiana on the University of Louisiana at Lafayette campus. It is home to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's and women's basketball programs in addition to hosting various university events and commencement ceremonies including high school graduations.
The Fresno Falcons were a minor league hockey team. They were charter members of several long standing leagues in the western United States including the Pacific Southwest Hockey League and the West Coast Hockey League. In their final years, they were members of the ECHL. They were located in Fresno, California.
The BMO Center is a multi-purpose arena located in downtown Rockford, Illinois, United States. It is currently home to the AHL's Rockford IceHogs hockey team. The arena formerly served as the home of several defunct minor league sports teams, including the Rockford Lightning basketball team, the Rock River Raptors indoor football team, the Rockford Rampage indoor soccer team and the Chicago Rush arena football team.
Save Mart Center at Fresno State is a multi-purpose arena, on the campus of California State University, Fresno, located in Fresno, California. An open house was held for the community on November 5, 2003, with the official ribbon cutting following on November 27, 2003. It is home to the Fresno State Bulldogs men's and women's basketball teams, women's volleyball team and wrestling team.
The Santander Arena is a 7,160-seat multi-purpose arena, in Reading, Pennsylvania. It was built in 2001. The arena sits on the former site of the Astor Theater; one of several grand movie and theater palaces built in Reading in the early 20th century. Closed in 1975, the theater sat vacant for over two decades. In 1998, the Astor was demolished to make room for the Santander Arena. Early in construction, steps were taken to retain mementos of the Astor, including its ornate Art Deco chandelier and gates. These are on display and in use inside the arena corridors, allowing insight into the ambience of the former movie house.
Mechanics Bank Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Bakersfield, California. Located downtown at the corner of Truxtun Avenue and N Street, it was built in 1998, and was originally known as Centennial Garden, a name submitted by local resident Brian Landis. Bay Area-based Mechanics Bank has held the naming rights since September 2019, following their merger with Rabobank NA, which had held the naming rights since 2005.

Harold Alfond Sports Arena is a multi-purpose arena in Orono, Maine, United States. The arena opened in 1977. It is home to the University of Maine Black Bears ice hockey teams. It is recognizable for its distinctive hyperbolic paraboloid architecture. The multi-angular roof design can also be found at Pavilion at Villanova University, the Brown University Smith Swim Center and the Flynn Recreation Complex at Boston College. It is named for Harold Alfond, a longtime Maine booster, whose name also adorns Alfond Sports Stadium, the school's main outdoor stadium.
The Vibrant Arena at The MARK, formerly known as The MARK of the Quad Cities, the iWireless Center, and the TaxSlayer Center, is a 12,000-seat multi-purpose arena located in Moline, Illinois. The facility opened in May 1993, under the name The MARK of the Quad Cities with the singer Neil Diamond as the opening act. The facility was renamed as the TaxSlayer Center on October 1, 2017. The arena started using its current name on September 1, 2022.
The Mid-America Center is an arena and convention center located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, United States, five minutes from downtown Omaha, Nebraska. The arena's maximum capacity is about 9,000 for concerts and 6,700 for ice hockey and arena football. The arena continues to provide free parking. Caesars Entertainment began managing the Center in 2012, taking over from SMG.
The Viaero Center, previously known as the Kearney Event Center and Firstier Event Center, is a 5,000-seat multi-purpose arena in Kearney, Nebraska. It opened in November 2000 as the Tri-City Arena. It is home to the 2016 USHL Clark Cup Champions Tri-City Storm ice hockey, and former teams, the Nebraska Cranes basketball and Tri-City Diesel arena football. Seating capacity for hockey, basketball and arena football is 4,047.
Grossinger Motors Arena is an arena in downtown Bloomington, Illinois. It is on the southwest corner of Madison Street (US-51) and Front Street. The arena opened to the public on April 1, 2006.
The Merrimack Athletics Complex is the home of the Merrimack College Warriors athletics teams. It has a basketball court and hockey arena. Hammel Court, located in the Volpe Athletic Center, is the home of the men's and women's basketball teams, as well as the volleyball team. Lawler Rink is the home of the Division I Merrimack Warriors men's ice hockey team, which had won the 1978 Division II national title before transitioning to Division I and joining the Hockey East Conference.
The Kay Yeager Coliseum is a 7,380-seat multi-purpose arena in Wichita Falls, Texas. It was completed in 2003. Kay Yeager served as Wichita Falls mayor from May 1996 to May 2000.
The KSU Convocation Center is a multipurpose arena on the campus of Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, Georgia, United States. The arena has a listed seating capacity of 3,805 people and opened in 2005. It is home to the Kennesaw State Owls men's basketball, women's basketball, and women's volleyball teams, as well as the administrative offices for the KSU athletic department. It is also available for other events and has hosted concerts, conferences, and trade shows, as well as sporting events.
Minneapolis Auditorium was an indoor arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It hosted the NBA's Minneapolis Lakers from 1947 until they moved to the Minneapolis Armory in 1959. The arena held 10,000 people and was built in 1927. The building fell into obscurity after the opening of the Met Center in suburban Bloomington. It was demolished in 1989 to make way for the Minneapolis Convention Center.
Goggin Ice Center is a multi-purpose sports facility in Oxford, Ohio on the Miami University campus. It replaced the Goggin Ice Arena. Like its predecessor, it is named for Lloyd Goggin, former school vice president who was instrumental in building the original ice arena.
