Serpent Sermon is the twelfth studio album by Swedish black metal band Marduk. It was released in North America on 5 June 2012 through Century Media Records on CD, vinyl and digital download. It reached number 44 on the Top Heatseekers Albums chart, selling roughly 800 copies in its first week. [1] Limited edition versions of the album include the bonus track "Coram Satanae", and a limited edition 7" vinyl EP of "Souls for Belial" was also released, featuring a cover of Wovenhand's "Oil On Panel". [2] A music video of "Souls for Belial" was also released on 9 May 2012. [3] The last album to feature drummer Lars Broddesson.
Black metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Daniel Rostén is a Swedish black metal vocalist, guitarist, and bassist, known as the frontman for Funeral Mist and singer/guitarist of Triumphator under the stage name Arioch, and for having been the vocalist for renowned Swedish black metal band Marduk since 2004 under the stage name Mortuus. He also runs a graphic design company called Holy Poison Design.
At the Gates is a Swedish death metal band from Gothenburg, a major progenitor of Gothenburg-style melodic death metal. The band was initially active from 1990 to 1996, reforming in 2007 for a tour between April and September 2008. In 2011, they reformed again and have since continued to perform. It is the first Marduk album to feature drummer Lars Broddesson. "Phosphorous Redeemer" was made available on the band's official MySpace page in the run-up to the album's release.
