The Seventh Federal Electoral District of Chihuahua(VII Distrito Electoral Federal de Chihuahua) is one of the 300 Electoral Districts into which Mexico is divided for the purpose of elections to the federal Chamber of Deputies and one of nine such districts in the state of Chihuahua.

Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is a country in the southern portion of North America. It is bordered to the north by the United States; to the south and west by the Pacific Ocean; to the southeast by Guatemala, Belize, and the Caribbean Sea; and to the east by the Gulf of Mexico. Covering almost 2,000,000 square kilometers (770,000 sq mi), the nation is the fourth largest country in the Americas by total area and the 13th largest independent state in the world. With an estimated population of over 129 million people, Mexico is the tenth most populous country and the most populous Spanish-speaking country in the world, while being the second most populous nation in Latin America after Brazil. Mexico is a federation comprising 31 states plus Mexico City (CDMX), which is the capital city and its most populous city. Other metropolises in the country include Guadalajara, Monterrey, Puebla, Toluca, Tijuana, and León.

The Chamber of Deputies is the lower house of the Congress of the Union, the bicameral legislature of Mexico. The other chamber is the Senate. The structure and responsibilities of both chambers of Congress are defined in Articles 50 to 70 of the current constitution.

Chihuahua, officially the Estado Libre y Soberano de Chihuahua, is one of the 31 states which, with Mexico City, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. It is located in Northwestern Mexico and is bordered by the states of Sonora to the west, Sinaloa to the southwest, Durango to the south, and Coahuila to the east. To the north and northeast, it has a long border with the U.S. adjacent to the U.S. states of New Mexico and Texas. Its capital city is Chihuahua City.

District territory

Under the 2005 districting scheme, the district covers the municipalities of Bachíniva, Buenaventura, Casas Grandes, Cuauhtémoc, Galeana, Gómez Farías, Guerrero, Ignacio Zaragoza, Madera, Matachí, Moris, Namiquipa, Nuevo Casas Grandes, Ocampo, Riva Palacio and Temósachi.^[1]

Bachíniva is one of the 67 municipalities of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Bachíniva. The municipality covers an area of 1,691.9 km².

Buenaventura is one of the 67 municipalities of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at San Buenaventura. The municipality covers an area of 8,938.3 km².

Casas Grandes Municipality is located in the northern Mexican state of Chihuahua. The municipal seat is the town of Casas Grandes, Chihuahua.

The district's head town (cabecera distrital), where results from individual polling stations are gathered together and collated, is the city of Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua.

1996–2005 district

Between 1996 and 2005, Chihuahua's Seventh District was located in the centre-west portion of the state and comprised mostly municipalities of the Sierra Tarahumara region: Bachíniva, Batopilas, Bocoyna, Carichí, Chínipas, Cuauhtémoc, Cusihuiriachi, Dr. Belisario Domínguez, Gran Morelos, Guazapares, Guerrero, Maguarichi, Moris, Nonoava, Ocampo, Riva Palacio, San Francisco de Borja, Santa Isabel, Satevó, Uruachi and Urique.^[2]

Batopilas is one of the 67 municipalities of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Batopilas. The municipality covers an area of 2,064.6 km².

Bocoyna is one of the 67 municipalities of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Bocoyna. The municipality covers an area of 2,801.8 km².

Carichí is one of the 67 municipalities of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Carichí. The municipality covers an area of 2,782 km².

1979–1996 district

Between 1979 and 1996, the Seventh District comprised the southern portion of the state capital, Chihuahua, Chih.
