Rear Admiral Shaheen Rahman, NUP, ndc, ncc, psc is a two star admiral of Bangladesh Navy and the incumbent chairman of Mongla Port Authority. [1] He also served as Commander Flotilla West leading the Western Fleet, senior directing staff (Navy) at the National Defence College in Dhaka, and Commander Khulna Naval Area, taking charge of a broad area under Bangladesh Navy. Additionally, he briefly served as the assistant chief of naval staff (personnel). [2]
Rahman joined Bangladesh Navy as officer cadet on 1 January 1987. After two years of military training he got commissioned in the executive branch on 1 July 1989. Distinguished as a gunnery specialist officer, he graduated from the Defense Services Command and Staff College in Mirpur, Dhaka, and further honed his skills through the Navy War College in Lahore, Pakistan, and the Naval Command College in the US, where he pursued his Naval Command Course and is currently immersed in a PhD fellowship. He also completed a specialized gunnery course at INS Dronacharya, India, and earned a master's degree in defence studies. He also served as a UN staff officer at UNMIH Headquarters in Haiti and assumed roles such as staff officer naval intelligence, deputy director naval training, director border, and director external at NSI Headquarters.
Rahman served as chief staff officer to Commander Khulna Naval Area. After that, he served as Commander Flotilla West leading the Western Fleet. Then he joined as the senior directing staff (Navy) at the National Defence College in Dhaka. He also briefly served as the assistant chief of naval staff (personnel). [3]
