The Port of Mongla is a link seaport, located at Mongla Upazila, Khulna Division, Bangladesh. It is a sea port of Khulna city, which is located to the north. It is the second largest and second busiest seaport of Bangladesh. The Mongla port lies close to the shore of Bay of Bengal and Pashur river. Mongla is renowned among the major important ports of the Bengal delta. Due to the increasing congestion in Bangladesh's largest port in Chittagong, many international shipping companies have turned to Mongla as an alternative. Also the continuous demand from all over the country and neighbouring countries has made it busier and economically attractive.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard is the maritime law enforcement force of Bangladesh. It is a paramilitary force which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Its officers and sailors are transferred from Bangladesh Navy, and most of the medical officers are transferred from Bangladesh Army. The Bangladesh Coast Guard also performs the duty of maritime border security of Bangladesh. The headquarters is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Currently the coast guard has 3,339 personnel and 63 ships. A modernisation plan named Coast Guard Goal 2030 has been undertaken to enhance its capabilities.
Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) is a government agency of Bangladesh responsible for the management, maintenance and governance of the country's major port of Chittagong, located in the city of Chittagong on the Karnaphuli River nine nautical miles from the shore of the Bay of Bengal of the Indian Ocean. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) was established in 2013, the 37th public university of the country. It is the first maritime university in Bangladesh, the 3rd maritime university in South Asia and the 12th maritime university in the world. It has issued its first calls for admission in December, 2016. The BSc in Oceanography program was started on 3 January 2017 at the University's temporary campus in Mirpur, as part of the first-ever launch of the Bachelor class in the University. Then in 2018, the first batch of BSc in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering classes started. Two more program classes started in 2019. LLB in Maritime Law and BBA in Port Management and Logistics. 2020 BSc in Maritime Fisheries first batch admission and classes start.

Prior to join here, he was Commander of Chattogram Naval Area (COMCHIT). Prior to assumption of the Commander Chattogram Naval Area on 4 February 2020, he served as Chairman of Mongla Port Authority.
Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail (TAS), NUP, PPM, psc, BN is a two-star admiral in Bangladesh Navy who is currently serving as Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority. Prior to join here he was Chairman of Payra Port Authority. Before that, he was serving as the Director of Submarine at the Navy Headquarters. He also served as Director of Naval Intelligence and commanded BNS Haji Mohshin while he was Commodore.
