The Bangladesh Navy is the naval warfare branch of the Bangladesh Armed Forces, responsible for the defence of Bangladesh's 118,813 square kilometres (45,874 sq mi) of maritime territorial area, and the security of sea ports and exclusive economic zones of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Navy is a front line disaster management force in Bangladesh. It is a key regional player in counter terrorism efforts, and engages in global peacekeeping with the United Nations.
The Port of Mongla is a link seaport, located at Mongla Upazila, Khulna Division, Bangladesh. It is a sea port of Khulna city, which is located to the north. It is the second largest and second busiest seaport of Bangladesh. The Mongla port lies close to the shore of Bay of Bengal and Pashur river. Mongla is renowned among the major important ports of the Bengal delta. Due to the increasing congestion in Bangladesh's largest port in Chittagong, many international shipping companies have turned to Mongla as an alternative. Also the continuous demand from all over the country and neighbouring countries has made it busier and economically attractive.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard is the maritime law enforcement force of Bangladesh. It is a paramilitary force which is under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Home Affairs. Its officers and sailors are transferred from the Bangladesh Navy, and most of the medical officers are transferred from the Bangladesh Army. The Bangladesh Coast Guard also performs the duty of maritime border security of Bangladesh. The headquarters is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The coast guard has 3,339 personnel and 63 ships. A modernisation plan named Coast Guard Goal 2030 was undertaken to enhance its capabilities.
Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) is a government agency of Bangladesh responsible for the management, maintenance and governance of the country's major port of Chittagong, located in the city of Chittagong on the Karnaphuli River nine nautical miles from the shore of the Bay of Bengal of the Indian Ocean. The CPA is part of the Ministry of Shipping.

The Port of Payra is a seaport located at Kalapara in Patuakhali, Bangladesh. It was established by an Act of Parliament in 2013. The port was officially inaugurated in 2016. It is located on the Ramnabad Channel near the Bay of Bengal. The port is undergoing several Development and expansion and the project is expected to be completed in 2020.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University (BSMRMU) was established in 2013, the 37th public university of the country. It is the first maritime university in Bangladesh, the 3rd maritime university in South Asia and the 12th maritime university in the world. It has issued its first calls for admission in December, 2016. The BSc in Oceanography program was started on 3 January 2017 at the University's temporary campus in Mirpur, as part of the first-ever launch of the Bachelor class in the University. Then in 2018, the first batch of BSc in Naval Architecture and Offshore Engineering classes started. Two more program classes started in 2019. LLB in Maritime Law and BBA in Port Management and Logistics. 2020 BSc in Maritime Fisheries first batch admission and classes start.
Payra Port Authority is an autonomous port authority in charge of the third port in Port of Payra, Bangladesh, and is located in Patuakhali, Bangladesh. The chairman of the Payra port authority is Rear Admiral Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury.
The Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) is the apex investment promotion agency (IPA) of Bangladesh. BIDA promotes and facilitates private investment and advocates business-friendly policies. BIDA provides regulatory services including registration, approvals and recommendations. The Port of Pangaon is an inland port and container terminal on the Buriganga River in Dhaka District, Bangladesh. It serves as a cargo port for Bangladesh's capital and largest city Dhaka. It was opened in 2013. It is the first river port of its kind in Bangladesh.

Mohammad Shahjahan is a two star admiral of Bangladesh who is currently posted at National Defence College as Senior Directing Staff. Prior to that, he was the Chairman of Chittagong Port Authority. Mohammad Musa is a two star military admiral of Bangladesh Navy. He is the incumbent Vice Chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University. Prior to joining here, he served as the Chairman of Mongla Port Authority. Prior to this appointment, he was Commander of Khulna Naval Area.
Rear Admiral Mohammad Mozammel Haque OSP, NUP, ndc, psc is a retired two-star admiral in Bangladesh Navy who served as the Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Personnel). Prior to join here, he was Commander of Chattogram Naval Area (COMCHIT). Prior to assumption of the Commander Chattogram Naval Area on 4 February 2020, he served as Chairman of Mongla Port Authority.
Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail (TAS), NUP, PPM, psc, BN is a two-star admiral in Bangladesh Navy who is currently serving as Chairman of Chattogram Port Authority. Prior to join here he was Chairman of Payra Port Authority. Before that, he was serving as the Director of Submarine at the Navy Headquarters. He also served as Director of Naval Intelligence and commanded BNS Haji Mohshin while he was Commodore.
Mohammad Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury is a Bangladeshi Civil Servant and Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration. Prior to this appointment, he served as Secretary of the Ministry of Shipping and Local Government Division.
Mohammad Khaled Iqbal is a retired rear admiral of the Bangladesh Navy and former vice-chancellor of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Maritime University. He is the former chairman of Chittagong Port Authority.
