Shane John Jurgensen (born 28 April 1976 in Redcliffe,Queensland) is an Australian cricket coach and former cricketer. He has played for Queensland,but has also played for Western Australia,Tasmania,and the Sussex Cricket Board in English county cricket.
Shane Jurgensen was a talented fast bowler who rose to prominence on the Queensland club scene in the early 1990s. Unable to secure a place in his home state's side due to the strength of their bowling attack,he moved to Western Australia,where he made his first-class debut. After a couple of seasons with Western Australia,he moved to Tasmania,where he played some of his best cricket,including a hat-trick against New South Wales,and a record 11 wickets in the 2002-03 Pura Cup final against the Queensland Bulls.
Following his enormous success with Tasmania he returned to Queensland,fulfilling his dream of representing his home state.
Jurgensen was New Zealand's bowling coach between 2008 and 2010 and was also a coach of New Zealand Cricket's high performance programme.
After finishing with New Zealand Cricket in 2010,he was appointed as the Bowling Coach for the Bangladesh National Side in October 2011. After the main coach of Bangladesh Stuart Law left the team in October 2012,he was appointed as interim head coach of Bangladesh. During his first assignment,Bangladesh beat the West Indies by 3–2 in ODI. They however suffered loss in test series by 2–0.
In February 2013 Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed him as the head coach of the Bangladesh. Under his guidance,Bangladesh white washed New Zealand 3–0 in the ODI series when New Zealand came to visit Bangladesh in October 2013. The test series was drawn 0-0. New Zealand won the one off T-20 match.
Despite being the most successful coach of Bangladesh (at that time),in April 2014,he resigned from his position less than a month after the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 where Bangladesh suffered a shock loss to Hong Kong.
During his tenure,Bangladesh won a Test match after four years against Zimbabwe cricket team and drew Tests against Sri Lanka cricket team in Galle and against New Zealand at home. [1]
In May 2014 Jurgensen was appointed head coach of the Fiji national cricket team for a three-year term. [2] He resigned in October 2015,but reversed his decision the following month. [3] He oversaw the team's qualification for 2015 ICC World Cricket League Division Six and also coached the national under-19 team at the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. His contract was terminated in February 2016 after he took up a short-term contract with Cricket New Zealand,. [4]
Jurgensen was roped in by Cricket Scotland as a consultant just before 2015 Cricket World Cup in Australia and New Zealand. He consulted Scotland cricket team only for one game,against Bangladesh.
He was appointed by Rangpur Riders as their head coach for the BPL's third season in 2015. His team came third in the tournament with seven wins in 10 matches. [5] [6]
In February 2016,Jurgensen was appointed for a second time as bowling coach of New Zealand cricket team. [7] His contract was extended in 2020 and he stayed with New Zealand until after the 2023 Cricket World Cup. [8] During his time with New Zealand he also stood in as the head coach for Gary Stead on 13 occasions,winning 11 times,including a 3-0 ODI series sweep over India at home in 2020. While Jurgensen worked with Stead the New Zealand team won the inaugural 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship and made the final of the 2019 Cricket World Cup and 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup. [9]
After leaving the New Zealand national team,in November 2023 Jurgensen became the head coach of the Wellington Firebirds. [10]
Courtney Andrew Walsh OJ is a former Jamaican cricketer who represented the West Indies from 1984 to 2001,captaining the West Indies in 22 Test matches. He is a fast bowler and considered one of the all-time greats,best known for a remarkable opening bowling partnership along with fellow West Indian Curtly Ambrose for several years. Walsh played 132 Tests and 205 ODIs for the West Indies and took 519 and 227 wickets respectively. He shared 421 Test wickets with Ambrose in 49 matches. He held the record of most Test wickets from 2000,after he broke the record of Kapil Dev. This record was later broken in 2004 by Shane Warne. He was the first bowler to reach 500 wickets in Test cricket. His autobiography is entitled "Heart of the Lion". Walsh was named one of the Wisden Cricketers of the Year in 1987. In October 2010,he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame. He was appointed as the Specialist Bowling Coach of Bangladesh Cricket Team in August 2016.
Matthew Lawrence Hayden is an Australian cricket commentator and former cricketer. His career spanned fifteen years. Hayden was a powerful and aggressive left-handed opening batsman,who along with opening partners,Justin Langer and Adam Gilchrist contributed heavily to Australia's success during its "golden era" (2000-2008) in Test and ODI cricket respectively. He holds the record of highest individual score by an Australian batsman in Test,where he scored 380 against Zimbabwe during Zimbabwe's 2003 tour of Australia. This stands as the 2nd highest individual score in test cricket. It is the highest score by an opening batsman in Tests,though infamously he never faced the opening ball in Tests with Langer,always batting at No2. Hayden was a member of the Australian team that won both the 2003 Cricket World Cup,and the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
Daniel Luca Vettori is a New Zealand cricket coach and former cricketer who played for the New Zealand national cricket team. He was the 200th player to win their Test cricket cap for New Zealand. He is currently an assistant coach of the Australia men's national cricket team.
Allan Anthony Donald is a South African former cricketer who is also the former bowling coach of Bangladesh national cricket team. Often nicknamed 'White Lightning' due to his quick bowling,he is considered one of the South Africa national cricket team's most successful pace bowlers. Brett Lee is an Australian former international cricketer,who played all three formats of the game. During his international career,Lee was recognised as one of the fastest bowlers in the world. With his time representing Australia,Lee won multiple ICC titles with the team:the 2003 Cricket World Cup,the 2006 ICC Champions Trophy,and the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy. Lee was the first bowler to take a hat-trick in the T20 format of the game which he did in 2007 ICC World Twenty20 in the inaugural tournament against Bangladesh,subsequently being the first bowler to do so at an ICC Men's T20 World Cup. Lee was also the first Australian bowler to take a hat-trick at a Cricket World Cup which he did in the 2003 Cricket World Cup Super Match game against Kenya.

Shane Robert Watson is an Australian cricket commentator and former cricketer who played for and occasionally captained the Australian national cricket team between 2002 and 2016. He was an all-rounder who played as a right-handed batsman and a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He was ranked as the world's No. 1 all-rounder in Twenty20 Internationals (T20I) for 150 weeks,including an all-time record of 120 consecutive weeks from 13 October 2011 to 30 January 2014. He began playing during the Australian team's golden era in the early 2000s,and was the last player from this era to retire. In his time playing for Australia,Watson was part of their winning squad in the Cricket World Cup two times in 2007,and 2015 along with the ICC Champions Trophy twice in 2006 and 2009,with Watson named as the player of the match in the final on both occasions,as he scored the winning run in the 2006 tournament,with the winning six in the 2009 tournament.
Cameron Leon White is an Australian former international cricketer who captained the national side in Twenty20 Internationals. A powerful middle order batsman and right-arm leg-spin bowler,White made his first-class cricket debut as a teenager in the 2000–01 season for the Victoria cricket team as a bowling all-rounder. He was named as New Zealand's captain for the first T20I against West Indies in place of Kane Williamson,who was rested for that game. The Blackcaps won that match by 47 runs. Southee was a member of the New Zealand team that won the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship. Southee currently has the highest (international) test batting strike rate among the batsmen with a minimum of 2000 test runs. His (batting) career strike rate is 83.12.
Khondaker Sakib Al-Hassan is a Bangladeshi cricketer and politician. He is the current captain of the Bangladesh national cricket team in all formats and a member of Parliament. He is known for his aggressive left-handed batting style in the middle order and controlled slow left-arm orthodox bowling. He is widely regarded as the greatest Bangladeshi cricketer and one of the greatest all rounders of all time.
