The Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor – Telugu is given by the Filmfare magazine as part of its annual Filmfare Awards for Telugu films. The award was introduced and first given at the 50th South Filmfare Awards in 2002, with Prakash Raj being the first recipient.

This film is a remake of the director's 2009 film Naadodigal. And Abhinaya reprising her role from Naadodigal. The film released on 14 January 2010 to mixed responses from critics. Anandam (transl. Happiness) is a 2001 Indian Telugu-language romance film, directed by Srinu Vaitla and starring Akash and Rekha in the lead roles. The music of the film was composed by Devi Sri Prasad. The film was sensational hit at box office and ran for 200 days in two centers, 175 days in two centers and 100 days in all major centers. It was a commercial and critical success of the time. This film made Akash an overnight star of the Telugu film industry. The film was remade in Kannada as Ananda, in Tamil as Inidhu Inidhu Kaadhal Inidhu, both versions being produced by Ramoji Rao and in Hindi as Thoda Tum Badlo Thoda Hum.
Dookudu (transl. Aggressive) is a 2011 Indian Telugu-language action comedy film directed by Srinu Vaitla and written by Vaitla, Kona Venkat, and Gopimohan. It is produced by Ram Achanta, Gopi Achanta, and Anil Sunkara under the banner 14 Reels Entertainment. The film stars Mahesh Babu, Samantha, Prakash Raj, and Sonu Sood alongside Brahmanandam who played a supporting role. The film revolves around Ajay Kumar (Babu), a police officer and son of ex-MLA Shankar Narayana (Raj), who awakes from coma, but his health remains perilous. To aid his recovery, Kumar masquerades as a MLA fulfilling his father's ambition for him, while also hunting his father's foes. The film was inspired by the 2003 German film Good Bye, Lenin!.
