Shanti Wintergate is a Canadian/American singer, songwriter, musician, actor and author. She has released two solo albums, and performed nationally at venues such as the Vans Warped Tour. In 2007, Wintergate co-authored a children's book titled I Went for a Walk . [1] She continues to collaborate with other artists and is a founding member of the children's music project Play Date. In 2014 her book I Went for a Walk won the Creative Child's 2014 Preferred Choice Award. [2]
Wintergate was born in Hollywood, California to artist/musician parents from Victoria, B.C., and was raised in the mountains of Idaho. [1] She attended the University of Victoria, and studied acting. [3] Wintergate started writing music and playing guitar as a teenager, performing at local folk festivals and other venues. [4] As a teenager, she traveled through India with a guitar, performing her own material at small venues. Further influenced by genres such as punk rock and rock during her travels, [5] she later moved to Los Angeles. [5]
Wintergate's debut solo album This Moment [5] was self-released on her own imprint Allone Records in 2003. [6] This led to performances at the Vans Warped Tour from 2006 to 2008, [7] and in 2007 [8] memorabilia related to Wintergate was included in the Warped: 12 Years of Music, Mayhem and More exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. After a couple of years of hiatus and traveling on tour with her husband Greg Attonito, Shanti partnered with Canadian producer Chris Wardman (Blue Peter) and engineer Brad Haehnel [11] [ unreliable source? ] to create what would become Stranger Days (2007) [9] and the acoustic version Stranger Days Stripped (2008). She has appeared as an actress in shows such as CSI:NY , [12] where she played a roller derby girl and suspected killer. [13]
I Went for a Walk is a children's book authored by Wintergate and illustrated by her husband Greg Attonito in 2007. [14] The book was positively reviewed by Brian McConville of Blogcritics, [15] as well as Jackson Ellis for Verbicide Magazine. [16] In 2007 Wintergate and Atonnito toured in locales such as San Francisco doing book readings, [17] also singing the words with guitar. [18] In 2011, Wintergate and Attonito jointly exhibited their art at a month-long show in Seattle, Washington, celebrating their first opening with a mix of acoustic covers and originals from each of their catalogs. Since her solo albums Wintergate has been involved with a number of collaborations, and she appeared on Attonito's solo debut Natural Disaster in 2011. [20] She has been involved with the "Magic Monday" recording sessions at Noise Alchemy studios in Los Angeles, [9] [21] for example playing guitar on a 2012 session with Billy Manzik. [21]
In 2014, I Went for a Walk won the Creative Child's 2014 Preferred Choice Award. [2] Wintergate is in the lineup "punk rock authors" to be featured in book signings at the It's Not Dead Festival in late 2015, which is put on in California by Kevin Lyman of the Warped tour. [22]
Wintergate and Attonito toured the United States doing readings and singings of their book I Went on a Walk, and upon returning home, began working the book into an album of kindie rock. [23] She is a founding member of the children's music project Play Date with partner and husband, Greg Attonito. [24] [25] Play Date released debut album Imagination on Fun Fun Records in 2012 receiving positive acclaim from NPR's All things Considered [26] [27] The album won a 2014 Parents' Choice Award. The Warped Tour was a traveling rock tour that toured the United States and Canada each summer from 1995 until 2019. It was the largest traveling music festival in the United States and the longest-running touring music festival to date in North America. The festival visited Australia in 1998–2002 and again in 2013.
Guttermouth is an American punk rock band formed in 1989 in Huntington Beach, California. They have released nine full-length studio albums and two live albums and have toured extensively, including performances on the Vans Warped Tour. They are infamous for their outrageous lyrics and behavior which are deliberately explicit, offensive and intended to shock, though usually in a humorous and sarcastic manner. This behavior has sometimes resulted in high-profile problems for the band, such as being banned from performing in Canada for eighteen months and leaving the 2004 Warped Tour amidst controversy over their political views and attitudes towards other performers.

Big D and the Kids Table is a ska punk band formed in October 1995 in Boston, Massachusetts, when its members converged in college. Their first release was on their own Fork in Hand Records label, but have since teamed with Springman Records and SideOneDummy. Laura Jane Grace is an American musician best known as the founder, lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist of the punk rock band Against Me!. In addition to Against Me!, Grace fronts the band Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers, a solo project she started in 2016. Grace is notable for being one of the first highly visible punk rock musicians to publicly come out as transgender, which she did in May 2012. Mayday Parade is an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida. Formed in 2005, the band was a result of a merger between two local Tallahassee bands, Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment. Their debut EP Tales Told by Dead Friends, was released in 2006, and sold over 50,000 copies without any label support. In July 2007, Mayday Parade released their debut album A Lesson in Romantics. Having been signed to Fearless Records since 2006, the band also signed onto a major label with Atlantic Records in 2009. Their second studio album, Anywhere but Here was released in October 2009 and their third album, entitled Mayday Parade, was released in October 2011. Mayday Parade's fourth album, titled Monsters in the Closet, was released in October 2013. Their fifth album, titled Black Lines, was released October 2015. In April 2018, the band signed to Rise Records and released their sixth studio album Sunnyland on June 15, 2018. Their seventh studio album, What It Means to Fall Apart, was released on November 19, 2021.
Pierce the Veil is an American rock band formed in San Diego, California, in 2006. It was founded by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes after the disbanding of Before Today, which formed out of the San Diego punk scene. Jaime Preciado and Tony Perry joined the group in 2007, on bass and lead guitar respectively.
A Lesson in Romantics is the debut studio album by American rock band Mayday Parade. The band resulted from a merger of two separate bands, Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment. The band released an EP, Tales Told by Dead Friends, in June 2006, which they sold to people by following the 2006 edition of Warped Tour and offering copies; it eventually sold 10,000 copies. The band signed to Fearless Records in August. A Lesson in Romantics was recorded in early 2007 with producers Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount. Vocalist/guitarist Jason Lancaster left the band in March 2007 citing a lack of writing credit on the band's releases. Prior to the release of A Lesson in Romantics, "Black Cat", "When I Get Home, You're So Dead", and "Jamie All Over" were made available for streaming. After the album's release, the band participated in the 2007 edition of Warped Tour.
So Wrong, It's Right is the second studio album and major label debut by American rock band All Time Low. Following an unsuccessful showcase for Fueled by Ramen, Hopeless Records signed All Time Low in March 2006. They released an EP, Put Up or Shut Up, through the label in July of that year. After amassing 12 songs by January 2007, the band demoed some of them for Paul Leavitt. The group began recording So Wrong, It's Right in April at SOMD Studios in Beltsville, Maryland with producers Leavitt and Matt Squire. The band wrote five additional songs while in the studio. Following an acoustic tour in June, the band participated in Warped Tour, and "Dear Maria, Count Me In" was made available for streaming. After premiering a music video for "Six Feet Under the Stars", So Wrong, It's Right was released on September 25. The band spent the next three months supporting Boys Like Girls on their US tour.
