Shayna Maree McDowell (born 15 April 1989) is an Australian former professional tennis player. [1]
McDowell, a player from the Sunshine Coast, was considered a bright prospect, ranked amongst the world's top 100 juniors. [2] She represented Australia at the Junior Fed Cup. [3]
In 2006 she made her WTA Tour main draw debut as a wildcard at the Canberra International, then a week later partnered Jessica Moore in the women's doubles main draw of the Australian Open. [4]
Her career was derailed by shoulder injuries, which forced her to have keyhole surgery in 2008. [5] After two years out of the game, she returned in 2010 and won an ITF tournament in Cantanhede, Portugal. [6]

Jelena Dokic is an Australian tennis commentator, studio analyst and former professional player. Her highest ranking as a tennis player was world No. 4, in August 2002. She won WTA Tour events on all surfaces during her career.
Elena Sergeevna Baltacha was a Ukrainian-born British professional tennis player. Being a four-time winner of the AEGON Awards, she was also a long-term British No. 1, a position she held intermittently from 2002 to 2012. However, as a result of her absence from competition due to knee surgery, she dropped down the world rankings and at the time of her retirement on 18 November 2013, she was ranked as the world No. 221 and British No. 6. Mirjana Lučić-Baroni is a Croatian former professional tennis player and Grand Slam doubles winner. She enjoyed a meteoric rise on the WTA Tour in the late 1990s, during which she set several "youngest-ever" records. She captured the women's doubles title at the 1998 Australian Open when she was 15 years old, partnered with Martina Hingis. She also won the first ever professional tournament she entered, the 1997 Croatian Ladies Open, and defended it the following year at age 16, making her the youngest player in history to successfully defend a title. She then reached the semifinals of the 1999 Wimbledon Championships, beating world No. 4 Monica Seles, and eighth seed Nathalie Tauziat, the previous year's finalist, before she lost to Steffi Graf in three sets. Following a series of personal problems from 2000 onwards, she faded from the scene.
