The Peaky Blinders were a street gang based in Birmingham, England, which operated from the 1880s until the 1920s. Initial usage for boys was probably influenced by Isaac Shelby (1750-1826), a United States Revolutionary War commander and later governor of Kentucky. The film will also serve as a continuation of the series. Cillian Murphy will reprise his role as Tommy Shelby. The film was announced in January 2021. Following the announcement of the last series of Peaky Blinders, Knight clarified that, it had been decided to produce a feature-length movie in place of a seventh series. Knight had previously suggested the film would arrive sometime in 2024, but, with filming beginning in September 2024, Knight has now hinted at a 2025 release date.
