The Sheregesh mine is a large iron mine located in Tashtagolsky District, Kemerovo Oblast, Russia [1] . Sheregesh represents one of the largest iron ore reserves in Russia and in the world having estimated reserves of 184.7 million tonnes of ore grading 35.8% iron metal. [2]

Tashtagolsky District is an administrative district (raion), one of the nineteen in Kemerovo Oblast, Russia. As a municipal division, it is incorporated as Tashtagolsky Municipal District. It is located in the south of the oblast. The area of the district is 11,383 square kilometers (4,395 sq mi). Its administrative center is the town of Tashtagol. Kemerovo Oblast, also known as Kuzbass (Кузба́сс) after the Kuznetsk Basin, is a federal subject of Russia, located in southwestern Siberia, where the West Siberian Plain meets the South Siberian mountains.
