The Myojo 56 building fire was a structural fire that began at about 01:00 local time on September 1, 2001 in the Myojo 56 building, located in the Kabukichō section of Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan.
A series of uncoordinated mass stabbings, hammer attacks, and cleaver attacks in the People's Republic of China began in March 2010. The spate of attacks left at least 90 dead and some 473 injured. As most cases had no known motive, analysts have blamed mental health problems caused by rapid social change for the rise in these kinds of mass murder and murder-suicide incidents.
On 14 December 2012 between 7 and 8 a.m. local time, a 36-year-old villager identified as Min Yongjun stabbed 24 people, including 23 children and an elderly woman, in a knife attack at Chenpeng Village Primary School, Wenshu Township, Guangshan County, Henan province, China. The children targeted by the knifeman are thought likely to be between six and eleven years of age. The attack occurred as the children were arriving for classes probably at 8:00 or maybe even 9:00.
Zhang Tianxin is a former Chinese politician, and Communist Party Secretary of Kunming, the provincial capital of Yunnan Province, between 2011 and 2014. He was dismissed from his position in July 2014, after he came under investigation for violating "party discipline", and subsequently expelled from the Chinese Communist Party.
Chen Xuefeng is a former Chinese politician and mining executive from Henan province. He was investigated by the Communist Party of China's anti-graft agency in January 2016 and expelled from the party a few months later. He served as Communist Party Secretary of Luoyang, the top political position in the city, from July 2013 to January 2016. He was a member of the Henan Provincial Party Standing Committee.
Zhang Yue is a former Chinese politician, and Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission of Hebei. A police officer by training, Zhang had a lengthy career rising through the ranks in China's policing system. He was dismissed from his position in April 2016 and undergoing investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection.

Bai Xiangqun is a former Chinese politician who spent his entire career in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. As of April 2018 he was under investigation by the Communist Party's anti-corruption agency and the National Supervisory Commission. Previously he served as vice-chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Government. Bai was the second high-ranking official probed since the National Supervisory Commission was established in March 2018, behind Wang Xiaoguang, former vice-governor of Guizhou.
On 25 August 2018, a fire broke out at the Beilong Hot Spring Hotel in Harbin. Located in the city's Taiyang Island (太阳岛) resort area, the four-storey brick-and-concrete hotel mostly accommodates domestic tourists and was hosting over 100 people at the time, many of whom were visiting for an annual marathon. The fire resulted in 20 deaths and 23 injuries.

The Kyoto Animation arson attack occurred at Kyoto Animation's Studio 1 building in the Fushimi ward of Kyoto, Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, on the morning of 18 July 2019. The arson killed 36 people, injured an additional 34, and destroyed most of the materials and computers in Studio 1. It is one of the deadliest massacres in Japan since the end of World War II, the deadliest building fire in Japan since the 2001 Myojo 56 building fire, and the first massacre ever to have occurred at a studio associated with an entertainment company, and the animation industry.
On 17 December 2021, a fire occurred in a psychiatric clinic located on the fourth floor of the Dojima Kita Building in Kita-ku, Osaka, Japan. The fire is suspected to have been started deliberately. 26 people were killed and a 27th was injured.
Li Hao was a Chinese murderer and rapist who kept six women as sex slaves and locked them in a dungeon in Henan. He murdered two of the women. Li tricked the six women into entering his basement and locked them there for two to 21 months. He raped them repeatedly and forced them to appear on online pornography in 2011.
On 10 June 2022, a group of men assaulted four women at a barbecue restaurant in Lubei District, Tangshan. Before dawn, a drunk man named Chen Jizhi attempted to sexually harass a woman. When the act was met with resistance, he became angry; Chen Jizhi and several of his companions violently assaulted the four women.
Returning Valiant was a pro-independence group in Hong Kong. Formed mainly by students under the Hong Kong national security law in 2020, the group called for continuation of protests to "liberate the city".
