The Shop Boyz are an Atlanta-based rap group best known for their 2007 hit single "Party Like a Rockstar." The group is composed of Demetrius "Meany" Hardin, Richard "Fat" Stephens, Rasheed "Sheed" Hightower. [1]

Career

After signing with Universal Republic Records, Shop Boyz began to record their first album, Rockstar Mentality , which featured rock-influenced hip hop. [2] The album's lead single, "Party Like a Rockstar," was released in May 2007 and achieved commercial success, reaching number two on the US Billboard Hot 100 (the #1 song on the Hot 100 at the time being Rihanna's "Umbrella") and becoming the highest-selling ringtone of 2007. [3] Rockstar Mentality was released on June 19, 2007, debuting at number 11 on the US Billboard 200, which had sold 200,000 copies as of 2007. [4] [5] The follow-up single, "They Like Me", performed at number 98. The group was eventually released from Universal and moved to another label.

In August 2008, Shop Boyz released "Up Thru There" as the lead single from their second studio album.

"Do It Just Like a Rockstar" is a 2005 song by American hip hop artist Freak Nasty. The song was released on iTunes on January 14, 2005. It reached number 45 on the Billboard Hot 100 in May 2007, after selling approximately 30,000 digital downloads on the iTunes Store. It was erroneously listed under the title of "Party Like A Rockstar", which caused confusion from iTunes users looking for the Shop Boyz song of the same name. On the Billboard issue dated May 26, 2007, the Shop Boyz were at number 54 on the Hot 100 due to strong airplay while Freak Nasty was number 56 due to strong sales. The following week, after the Shop Boyz had an official digital release of their single, "Party Like a Rockstar" shot to number two while "Do It Just Like a Rockstar" dropped completely off the chart.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Calboy</span> American rapper (born 1999)

Calvin Lashon Woods, better known by his stage name Calboy, is an American rapper from Calumet City, Illinois. He is best known for his 2018 single "Envy Me", which received quintuple platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) and peaked within the top 40 of the Billboard Hot 100. Its success led him to sign with Polo Grounds Music, an imprint of RCA Records, who issued the song as lead single for his debut extended play (EP), Wildboy (2019). The EP peaked at number 30 on the Billboard 200, while his second, Love Live the Kings (2020), lukewarmly entered the chart.
