Mt. Angel is a city in Marion County, Oregon, United States. It is 18 miles (29 km) northeast of Salem, Oregon, on Oregon Route 214. The population was 3,392 at the 2020 census. Mt. Angel is part of the Salem Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Founded in 1851 as the Oregon Statesman, it later merged with the Capital Journal to form the current newspaper, the second-oldest in Oregon. The Statesman Journal is distributed in Salem, Keizer, and portions of the mid-Willamette Valley. The average weekday circulation is 27,859, with Sunday's readership listed at 36,323. It is owned, along with the neighboring Stayton Mail and Silverton Appeal Tribune, by the national Gannett Company.
The Catholic Sentinel was the newspaper of the Archdiocese of Portland. It was published by Oregon Catholic Press, which also published El Centinela, the Spanish-language version of the Catholic Sentinel. The Catholic Sentinel published an online edition from 1996 to 2022. In 2022, it was announced that both the Sentinel and El Centinela would be discontinued as of October 1, 2022.

The Hillsboro Argus was a twice-weekly newspaper in the city of Hillsboro, Oregon, from 1894 to 2017, known as the Washington County Argus for its final year. The Argus was distributed in Washington County, Oregon, United States. First published in 1894, but later merged with the older, 1873-introduced Forest Grove Independent, the paper was owned by the McKinney family for more than 90 years prior to being sold to Advance Publications in 1999. The Argus was published weekly until 1953, then twice-weekly from 1953 until 2015. In early 2017, it was reported that the paper was planning to cease publication in March 2017. The final edition was that of March 29, 2017.

Journalism in the U.S. state of Oregon had its origins from the American settlers of the Oregon Country in the 1840s. This was decades after explorers like Robert Gray and Lewis and Clark first arrived in the region, several months before the first newspaper was issued in neighboring California, and several years before the United States formally asserted control of the region by establishing the Oregon Territory.
The Stayton Mail was a weekly newspaper serving Stayton in the U.S. state of Oregon, founded in the mid-1890s. It was published by the Statesman Journal; both papers, along with the nearby Silverton Appeal Tribune, are owned by the national Gannett Company.
The city of Silverton, Oregon, has more than 30 murals displayed in public spaces. Many have been funded and maintained by the Silverton Mural Society, established in 1992. The artworks focus on local history and people, such as Homer Davenport, Donald Pettit, and Bobbie the Wonder Dog. Norman Rockwell's Four Freedoms (1943) series was reproduced in Silverton in 1994.
