Simion Popescu (born 11 August 1940) is a retired Greco-Roman wrestler from Romania. He competed at the 1968 and 1972 Olympics and won a bronze medal in 1972. At the world championships he won a gold medal in 1969, placing second in 1967 and 1970. [1] After retiring from competitions he worked as a wrestling coach at the club Rapid Bucuresti. [2]

He retired with a record of 20 losses out of 155 bouts. His elder brother Calistrat was also an Olympic boxer.

Calistrat Ilie Cuțov is a retired Romanian boxer. He won the European lightweight title in 1969 and an Olympic bronze medal in 1968. He retired after winning a bronze medal at the 1977 European Championships, with a record of 11 losses out of 398 bouts. Since 1981 he has worked as a boxing coach. His trainees include Daniel Dumitrescu. His brother Simion was also an Olympic medalist in boxing.

Adrian Simion is a former Romanian handball goalkeeper who won a bronze medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics. At the club level he played for Steaua București, winning with them eight national titles and reaching the EHF Champions League final in 1989. After retiring from competitions he worked as a mechanical engineer for the Ministry of Defence and as a handball coach for the national cadet team.

Simion Ismailciuc Romanian canoeist

Simion Ismailciuc was a Romanian sprint canoeist. He had his best achievements in pairs, partnering with Dumitru Alexe. Together they won an Olympic gold medal in 1956, a European title in 1957 and a world title in 1958. Ismailciuc also excelled individually in the C-1 1000 m event, winning the world and European titles in 1963. He retired in 1965 to become a canoeing coach.

Dimitrie Popescu is a retired Romanian rower. He competed in various events at the 1984, 1988, 1992 and 1996 Olympics and won one gold, two silver and one bronze medal. Victor Dolipschi was a heavyweight Greco-Roman wrestler from Romania. He won bronze medals at the 1972 and 1984 Olympics and 1972 and 1977 European championships. After retiring from competitions he joined the Romanian Wrestling Federation and eventually became its president.

Ana Maria Pavăl is a Romanian freestyle wrestler, who is playing for the women's 53 kilograms category. Since 2005, Pavăl had won a total of five bronze medals at the European Wrestling Championships. She is a member of CSA Steaua București, and is coached and trained by Simon Constantin and Vasile Vişan.

Gheorghe Simion is a Romanian boxer. He competed in the men's light middleweight event at the 1984 Summer Olympics. He also won one national senior title and one bronze medal at the European Amateur Boxing Championships.
