Simoi binti Peri is a Malaysian politician based in the state of Sarawak from the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB),a major component party of the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition of the state. He has also served as the Member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Lingga from 2006 to 2021. [1]
Prior to being elected,she worked at the State Islamic Department. In 2006,she joined the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB). She defeated Abang Othman Abang Gom of the People's Justice Party to win the Lingga seat in the state assembly. In March 2011,Peri announced that she would not run for reelection. [2] However,she was subsequently re-nominated and ran for reelection at the request of the leadership of the Barisan Nasional party. [3] Peri was re-elected in 2011 [4] and in 2016. [5]
She also served as chief of PBB Lingga and as a member of the Supreme Council of the Women's Wing of PBB Sarawak. [2]

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu is a political party in Malaysia. It is currently the largest political party in Sarawak. Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu was formed from the combination of three parties in Sarawak;Parti Negara Sarawak,Barisan Rakyat Jati Sarawak and Parti Pesaka Anak Sarawak. The formation of the party was for the purpose of the improvement of the livelihood and protect the rights of the Bumiputera in many fields such as politics,economy and social. Formerly a part of Semenanjung-based coalition Barisan Nasional (BN),following the defeat of BN in the 2018 general election and in the aftermath of a meeting between all Sarawak-based BN coalition parties on 12 June 2018,PBB left the coalition to form a new Sarawak-based coalition,Sarawak Parties Alliance.
The Sarawak National Party known by its acronym as "SNAP",is now a defunct political party in Malaysia. It was a member party of the Alliance Party from 1963 to 1966 and a member of Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition from 1976 until its expulsion in 2004. It contested the General Election in 2004 as well as the Sarawak state elections of 2006 and 2011 as an opposition party.
The fourth Sarawak state election was held between Wednesday,28 December and Thursday,29 December 1983 with a nomination date on Thursday,8 December 1983. The two-day duration of the election was shorter than the eight-day election in 1979 state election because of improvements in transportation and communication systems. Only 45 out of 48 seats were contested. The state assembly was dissolved on 18 November 1983 by the governor of Sarawak with the advice of chief minister of Sarawak,which was one year and 15 days earlier than the expiration of the state assembly on 3 December 1984.
The seventh Sarawak state election was held between Saturday,7 September and Sunday,8 September 1996 with nomination date on Tuesday,27 August 1996. The Sarawak State Assembly was dissolved on 15 August 1996 before its expiration on 28 November 1996. There were 62 seats available but only 43 were contested on the election day. This election saw 814,347 registered voters with 64.18% voters turned up to cast their votes.

The tenth Sarawak state election was held on Saturday,16 April 2011 after nomination for candidates on Wednesday,6 April 2011. The purpose of the election was to elect 71 representatives to the Sarawak State Assembly. The ninth state assembly was dissolved by Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak,Tun Abang Muhammad Salahuddin Abang Barieng on the advice of Chief Minister Abdul Taib Mahmud on 21 March 2011. The previous state election in Sarawak was held in 2006.

Yang Berhormat Dato' Murshid Diraja Dr. Juanda Jaya is a Malaysian politician and mufti who has served as State Deputy Minister in the Premier's Department of Sarawak in charge of Integrity and Ombudsman in the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) state administration under Premier Abang Abdul Rahman Johari Abang Openg and Minister John Sikie Tayai since January 2022 and Member of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Jemoreng since May 2016. He is a member of the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB),a component party of the ruling GPS coalition. He also served as the Mufti of Perlis from January 2009 to January 2014. On 1 October 2009,he started to take leave and was a visiting scholar to Oxford University from 6 October 2009 to 3 August 2010 for 10 months and he is of Melanau descent. He is to date the only East Malaysian to become a Mufti in Peninsular Malaysia.

A by-election was held for the Sarawak State Assembly seat of Balingian on 29 March 2014 following the nomination day on 17 March 2014. The incumbent assemblyman and former 33-year Chief Minister,Abdul Taib Mahmud resigned from his post on 28 February 2014. The seat was declared vacant after he took his seat as the new Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak,succeeding Abang Muhammad Salahuddin whose term ended on 28 February.
