Sirla Pera (born 28 August 1992) is a Cook Island male weightlifter, competing in the 94 kg category and representing Cook Islands at international competitions. He participated at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the 94 kg event. [1]

This was the island nation's second appearance at a Summer Olympics, following the 1988 Summer Olympics. The delegation to Barcelona consisted of two competitors, track and field athlete Mark Sherwin and weightlifter Sam Nunuke Pera. The Men's 94 kg weightlifting event was an event at the weightlifting competition, limiting competitors to a maximum of 94 kilograms of body mass. The whole competition took place on 9 October at 14:00. The event took place at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Delhi.

Faavae Faauliuli is a weightlifter from Samoa. He won Samoa's first ever gold medal at the Commonwealth Games when he successfully lifted 334 kg in the New Delhi Games in 2010.

Netball in the Cook Islands

The Cook Islands compete as a part of netball's Oceania region. More than 1,000 players have registered to play the sport. Participation in the game grew during the 1970s. Much of this is possible because of the national governing organisation, the Cook Islands Netball Association which is a member of Oceania Netball Federation. Luisa Fatiaki Taitapu Peters is a weightlifter from the Cook Islands, who competes in the +75 kg weight division. She participated in two Olympics and three Commonwealth Games with the best result of fifth place in 2018. She won a bronze medal at the 2015 Pacific Games.

Sam Nunuke Pera is a retired Cook Islands weightlifter. He represented the Cook Islands in three editions of the Olympic Games, and has been named the nation's sportsman of the year five times. Pera is also the father of Sam Pera, Jr., who later competed in the same weightlifting division at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
