Sittin' Pretty is the second album by the Scottish band The Pastels, released in 1989. [5] [6] [7]
Trouser Press wrote that "while there's nothing new in Sittin' Pretty's off-key awkwardness and gawky grooves (for the first time, the Pastels sound like they're consciously trying to sound like themselves), this outing from the monsters of twee is not without its gems." [3] The New York Times wrote that the album "has melodies as simple as nursery rhymes, cut to shreds by brazen, bullying guitar solos." [1] Martin C. Strong wrote that the album "featured some of the sweetest, juiciest moments in The Pastels' chequered career." [8] The Herald called the album "a small but perfectly formed eccentricity in which the spirits of Iggy Pop, Jonathan Richman, and the Velvet Underground combine in wistful splendour." [9]

Stick Around for Joy is the third and final studio album by Icelandic alternative rock band the Sugarcubes. It was released in 1992 by Elektra. The album was supported by four singles: "Hit", which reached number one on the Modern Rock Tracks chart in the US and number 17 on the UK Singles Chart, "Walkabout", "Vitamin" and "Leash Called Love", which went to number one on the US Dance chart.
The Pastels are an indie rock group from Glasgow formed in 1981. They were a key act of the Scottish and British independent music scenes of the 1980s, and are specifically credited for the development of an independent and confident music scene in Glasgow. The group has had a number of members, but currently consists of Stephen McRobbie, Katrina Mitchell, Tom Crossley, John Hogarty, Alison Mitchell and Suse Bear.
