Skeidshovden Mountain

Skeidshovden Mountain ( 72°8′S11°31′E / 72.133°S 11.517°E / -72.133; 11.517 Coordinates: 72°8′S11°31′E / 72.133°S 11.517°E / -72.133; 11.517 ) is a mountain rising to 2,730 m at the southwest end of the Wohlthat Mountains in Queen Maud Land. It was first photographed from the air by the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–39). Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from surveys and air photos by the Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–60) and named Skeidshovden.

Mountains erode slowly through the action of rivers, weather conditions, and glaciers. A few mountains are isolated summits, but most occur in huge mountain ranges.

Wohlthat Mountains is a large group of associated mountain features consisting of the Humboldt Mountains, Petermann Ranges, and the Gruber Mountains, located immediately east of the Orvin Mountains in Fimbulheimen in the central Queen Maud Land. Discovered by the Third German Antarctic Expedition (1938–1939), led by Capt. Alfred Ritscher, and named for Councilor of state Helmuth C.H. Wohlthat, who as economist and fiscal officer dealt with the organization of the expedition.

It was mapped from air photos and from surveys by the Sixth Norwegian Antarctic Expedition, 1956–60, and remapped by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition, 1960–61, and named after Dmitry Nikolayevich Anuchin, Soviet geographer.

Bakhallet Slope is an ice slope between Terningskarvet Mountain and Brugda Ridge in the Gjelsvik Mountains, Queen Maud Land. It was photographed from the air by the Third German Antarctic Expedition (1938–39), mapped by Norwegian cartographers from surveys and from air photos by the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–52) and by the Norwegian expedition (1958–59) and named "Bakhallet".

Svea Glacier is a broad glacier flowing north between the Sverdrup and Gjelsvik Mountains in Queen Maud Land. Photographed from the air by the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–39). Mount Grytøyr is a broad ice-topped mountain, 2,695 metres (8,840 ft) high, between Flogeken Glacier and Stuttflog Glacier in the Mühlig-Hofmann Mountains of Queen Maud Land, Antarctica. It was mapped by Norwegian cartographers from surveys and air photos by the Sixth Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–60) and named for B. Grytøyr, a meteorologist with the expedition (1956–58).

Giaever Glacier is a glacier flowing northwest between Mount Kerckhove de Denterghem and Mount Lahaye in the Belgica Mountains of Antarctica. It was discovered by the Belgian Antarctic Expedition, 1957–58, under Gaston de Gerlache, who named it for Norwegian explorer John Schjelderup Giæver, counselor for the expedition, and leader of the Norwegian–British–Swedish Antarctic Expedition, 1949–52.

Granitnaya Mountain is a mountain, 2,880 metres (9,450 ft) high, standing just east of Skeidshovden Mountain in the Wohlthat Mountains of Queen Maud Land, Antarctica.
