Slidre is the administrative centre of Vestre Slidre Innlandet county, municipality, Norway. [1]

Slidre (with its surrounding areas) was established as a municipality January 1, 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). It was divided into Vestre Slidre and Øystre Slidre in 1849. It is located by the Slidrefjord. Its population (SSB 2005) is 293. Slidre is the site of the medieval era, stone church Slidredomen (Slidre kyrkje). [2]

Slidredomen Church in Innlandet, Norway

Vestre Slidre Church is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vestre Slidre Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located on a hill in the village of Slidre at the northern end of Slidrefjord. It is the church for the Slidre parish which is part of the Valdres prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The old stone church was built in a long church design around the year 1170 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 200 people.

Valdres District Court

Valdres District Court was a district court in Innlandet county, Norway. The court was based in Fagernes. The court existed from 1786 until 2021. It served the municipalities of Etnedal, Nord-Aurdal, Sør-Aurdal, Vang, Vestre Slidre and Øystre Slidre. Cases from this court could be appealed to Eidsivating Court of Appeal.

Einang Sound

The Einang Sound is a small sound in the middle of Slidre Fjord in Oppland county, Norway, about 150 meters (490 ft) wide. It is crossed by Norwegian County Road 261 via the Einang Sound Bridge, which was built in 1963. Before that, a cable ferry operated at the site. The ferry was important for moving people and animals across the sound to and from farms. The cable was anchored to two concrete pillars, both of which are still standing. The ferry, the cable, and various accessories are now on display at the Valdres Folk Museum in Fagernes. The Einang stone stands just to the east, above the sound.

Einang Sound Bridge

The Einang Sound Bridge is a road bridge in the municipality of Vestre Slidre in Innlandet county, Norway. The bridge crosses the Einang Sound and Slidre Fjord, and it is a branch of Norwegian County Road 261 connecting it to European route E16. The bridge is a suspension bridge with three spans creating a total length of 166 meters (545 ft). The bridge was built in 1963.

Vestre Innlandet District Court

Vestre Innlandet District Court is a district court located in Innlandet county, Norway. This court is based at four different courthouses which are located in Gjøvik, Fagernes, Lillehammer, and Vågåmo. The court serves the western part of the county which includes cases from 24 municipalities. The court in Gjøvik accepts cases from the municipalities of Gjøvik, Gran, Nordre Land, Søndre Land, Vestre Toten, and Vestre Toten. The court in Lillehammer accepts cases from the municipalities of Gausdal, Lillehammer, Ringebu, Sør-Fron, and Øyer. The court in Fagernes accepts cases from the municipalities of Etnedal, Nord-Aurdal, Sør-Aurdal, Vestre Slidre, Vang, and Øystre Slidre. The court in Vågåmo accepts cases from the municipalities of Dovre, Lesja, Lom, Nord-Fron, Sel, Skjåk, and Vågå. The court is subordinate to the Eidsivating Court of Appeal.
