SlowHill are a Finnish instrumental downtempo/lounge band formed in 2002 by Slow (aka Vellu Maurola) and award-winning saxophonist Tapani Rinne. The band fuses downtempo beats into easy listening jazz atmospheres.
SlowHill have released four albums via various record labels.
Their debut album, Finndisc, was the first electronica album released by the jazz label Blue Note in Finland. It was subsequently released by Blue Note in the UK, Japan, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands. [1] The band unearthed and sampled classic jazz records from the vaults of EMI Finland, which owns Blue Note's catalogue. [2] Jazz artists sampled include Heikki Sarmanto, Teuvo Suojärvi, Mike Koskinen, Carita Holmström and Pekka Pohjola. [3] Pohjola's sample, used on the track "Valo", was also used by DJ Shadow on his track "Midnight in a Perfect World" from Endtroducing...... [4]
The band’s second album, Fennika, was released by Plastinka Records in 2005. It features a track composed for a Pablo Neruda poem [5] and samples from Rajaton’s song "Butterfly". [6]
The band’s third album, Muzak, was released in June 2010 by Universal Music Finland. Guest musicians include violinist Pekka Kuusisto on electric guitars, [7] percussionist Teho Majamäki and vocalist Siiri Nordin. It also marks the appearance of the first cover song by SlowHill: Rauno Lehtinen’s jazz classic "Toiset meistä". [7]

Jussi Pekka Pohjola was a Finnish multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer. Best known as a bass player, Pohjola was also a classically trained pianist and violinist.

Endtroducing..... is the debut studio album by American music producer DJ Shadow, released on September 16, 1996, by Mo' Wax. It is an instrumental hip hop work composed almost entirely of samples from vinyl records. DJ Shadow produced Endtroducing over two years, using an Akai MPC60 sampler and little other equipment. He edited and layered samples to create new tracks of varying moods and tempos.
RinneRadio is a Finnish group of electro jazz pioneers. Operating on the boundaries of jazz and electronic music, RinneRadio fused jazz into ambient music and techno years before it became a worldwide trend and added hints of world music into it. In the third part, Suomi soi 3 ‒ Ääniaalloilta parrasvaloihin of a book series about popular music in Finland, it has been written that RinneRadio was several years ahead of their time when they started.

Pepe Deluxé is a Finnish electronic music oriented band, formed in 1996 by DJ Slow JA-Jazz and James Spectrum in Helsinki, Finland. They started to experiment with sounds of hip hop, big beat, breakbeat and downtempo. With the 2007 release Spare Time Machine the band gave up on sampling and concentrated on vintage music styles including psychedelia, baroque pop and surf rock. DJ Slow departed the band in 2001 to pursue solo projects. JA-Jazz has been off-duty since 2008. Multi-instrumentalist Paul Malmström became an official member of the band in 2008.

The album sounds more like the records of the "Deep Pop" era than the records of the progressive rock era.

The Mathematician's Air Display is the third album by Pekka Pohjola, released in 1977 by Virgin Records. Esoteric Recordings is reissuing the album on 25 January 2010.
"Apache" is a song written by Jerry Lordan and first recorded by Bert Weedon. Lordan played the song on ukulele to the Shadows while on tour, and liking the song, the group released their own version which topped the UK Singles Chart for five weeks in mid-1960. The Shadows' guitarist Hank Marvin developed the song's distinctive echo and vibrato sound. After hearing the Shadows' version, Danish guitarist Jørgen Ingmann released a cover of the song in November 1960 which peaked at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US.
