Smart Ass Black Boy is the second studio album by American rapper Fat Tony. [1] It was released on Young One Records on June 11, 2013. [2] [3] Written in two days and recorded in four days, [4] the album is entirely produced by Tom Cruz. [5] Music videos were created for "BKNY", [6] "Hood Party", [7] and "Smart Ass Black Boy". [8]

David Jeffries of AllMusic gave the album 4 stars out of 5, noting "a laid-back, warm, Andre 3000-styled flow, some golden age swagger, plus a never-ending supply of witty lyrics" as the appeal of the album. [9] Nick De Molina of XXL called it "a fine example of how to make a smart, cohesive album without a clear-cut narrative to guide the listener along". [13]

Rock ultimately chose to pursue a career as a rapper over a life of street crime. Anthony Tiffith, the founder and CEO of the independent record label Top Dawg Entertainment (TDE), found Rock in 2005 and signed him to the label. In 2007, alongside TDE, Rock secured a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records and later Asylum Records, but mergers fell through Rock left the label. Mack Maine currently is signed to and the president of Young Money Entertainment, which was formerly an imprint of Birdman's Cash Money Records. Y.R.N. is a mixtape by American hip hop group Migos. It was released on June 13, 2013. The album features notable guest appearances from rappers Gucci Mane, Trinidad James, Riff Raff and Soulja Boy. This mixtape is notable for the single "Versace", the single reached number 99 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, number 31 on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, number 23 on the US Hot Rap Songs chart and number 11 on the US Top Heatseekers chart. "Versace" was placed in multiple year-end lists of 2013. Diplo included it in his 2013 round-up set on BBC Radio 1. XXL named it one of the top five hip hop songs of 2013. The official music video, directed by Gabriel Hart, was released on September 30, 2013. It shows Migos and Zaytoven at a luxurious mansion, wearing Versace clothes and accessories. Y.R.N. later reached number 74 on the US Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, their first mixtape to do so on the Billboard charts.
