Sofianna Sundelin (born 13 January 2003) is a Finnish ice hockey player and member of the Finnish national team, currently playing with the St. Cloud State Huskies women's ice hockey program in the NCAA Division I.
Sundelin began playing ice hockey with the minor ice hockey department of HC Ässät in Pori, the western neighbor of her hometown of Ulvila, near the Bothnian Bay in southwestern Finland. [1] [2] During her youth career, she also played with girls' teams of Panelian Raikas (PaRa) in Eura.
Sundelin played five seasons with Team Kuortane (2018–2023) in the Naisten Liiga (NSML; renamed Auroraliiga in 2024), the premier national women's ice hockey league in Finland. She ended her career with Team Kuortane second on the lists of all-time points and goals scored for the team. [3]
Sundelin joined the St. Cloud State Huskies women's ice hockey program as an incoming freshman for the 2023–24 season. She made an immediate impression, notching two assists across the season opener two-game series against the Union Garnet Chargers. Her point total led all rookies in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) conference and resulted in her being named the first WCHA Rookie of the Week of the 2023–24 season. [4]
As a junior ice hockey player with the Finnish national under-18 team, Sundelin participated in the IIHF U18 Women's World Championships in 2019 and 2020, winning a bronze medal at the 2019 tournament.
She made her senior national team debut at the 2021 IIHF Women's World Championship, contributing an assist to Finland's bronze medal performance, and went on to win a bronze medal while representing Finland in the women's ice hockey tournament at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. [5] [6]
Her first goal at a major international event was scored against Japan in the preliminary round of the 2022 IIHF Women's World Championship and was assisted by Kiira Yrjänen. [7]
Sundelin attended secondary school at Kuortaneen urheilulukio ('Kuortane Lukio and Sports Academy') in Kuortane, Finland.
Her intended major at St. Cloud State University is exercise science. [8]

Porin Ässät, officially named Hockey Club Ässät Pori and colloquially known as Pata, is a professional ice hockey club based in Pori, Finland. It competes in the SM-liiga, the highest-ranking league of ice hockey in Finland. Since 1971, Ässät has played its games in the Isomäki Ice Hall.
Musan Salama, commonly abbreviated MuSa, is a football club based in Pori, Finland, playing in the Finnish fifth tier Kolmonen as of the 2024 season. It was founded in 1960 in the Musa suburb of Pori as a football and ice hockey club. The ice hockey section was continued by the Porin Kiekko-Salamat after 1972.
Joel Armia is a Finnish professional ice hockey winger for the Montreal Canadiens of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected in the first round, 16th overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Isomäen jäähalli, also known as Enersense Areena for sponsorship reasons is a multi-purpose arena located in Pori, Finland. The arena is used by ice hockey clubs Porin Ässät and Porin Kiekko Weljet. The arena was opened in 1971 and the capacity for hockey games is 6 150 and for concerts 4 000.

The 1977–78 Porin Ässät season was the club's third season in the SM-liiga and the 11th season at the top-level ice hockey league in Finland. Ässät finished 2nd in the regular season, two points behind Tappara. Ässät beat Tappara 3–1 in the final series to become the Finnish champions for the 2nd time in the club's history. The win also secured Ässät a spot in the 1978–79 IIHF European Cup, in which they won bronze.
The 1967–68 Porin Ässät season was the club's inaugural season. Ässät had been formed after a merger with Porin Karhut and RU-38 in June 1967 and would compete in the top-tier of ice hockey in Finland, the SM-sarja. Ässät inherited Karhut's place in the 1967 Finnish Cup, which it won after beating SaPKo 7–0 in the final. Ässät also inherited RU-38's place in the IIHF European Cup, as RU-38 had won the Finnish Championship 1967.
