The Somerset Senior Vase is an annual rugby union knock-out club competition organized by the Somerset Rugby Football Union. It was first introduced during the 2007-08 season, with the inaugural winners being Wells. It is the second most important rugby union cup competition in Somerset, behind the Senior Cup.

The Senior Vase is currently open to club sides based in Somerset and parts of Bristol that are outside of the top 16 teams in the county, typically playing in tier 7 (Tribute Western Counties North, tier 8 (Tribute Somerset Premier) and tier 9 (Somerset 1) of the English rugby union league system. While the Somerset leagues have 1st and 2nd XV taking part in league games, like the Somerset Senior Cup, the Vase only allows 1st teams to enter. The format is a knockout cup with a quarter-finals, semi-finals and a final to be held at a neutral venue between March-May. [1]

    The Bristol and District Rugby Football Combination is an organisation for the promotion of junior rugby union in the city of Bristol, England.

    Tribute Somerset Premier is an English rugby union league which sits at the eighth level of league rugby union in England involving teams based in the county of Somerset as well as some teams based in Bristol. The league champions are automatically promoted to Tribute Western Counties North while the runners up play the runners up of Gloucester Premier for their place. Relegated teams drop into Somerset 1. Only 1st XV sides can be promoted into Tribute Western Counties North, although any side can fall to Somerset 1. Each season a 1st XV side from Tribute Somerset Premier is picked to take part in the RFU Senior Vase - a national competition for clubs at level 8.

    Tribute Western Counties North is an English, level seven, rugby union league for clubs based in the south-west of England; mainly Bristol, Gloucestershire and Somerset. The champions are promoted to Tribute South West 1 West and the runner-up plays the second team in Tribute Western Counties West, with the winning team gaining promotion. The number of teams relegated depends on feedback following promotion and relegation in the leagues above, but is usually two or three to Gloucester Premier and Tribute Somerset Premier. Although 2nd XV rugby is part of the Somerset regional league system, only 1st XV teams are allowed in Tribute Western Counties North.

    Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union

    The Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union is the union responsible for rugby union in the county of Gloucestershire, England and is one of the constituent bodies of the national Rugby Football Union. Formed in 1878, it has won the county championship on numerous occasions.

    Brixham Rugby Football Club is an English rugby union team based at Astley Park in Brixham, Devon. The club runs three senior teams and the full range of junior teams. The first XV currently plays in South West Premier, a level five league in the English rugby union system.

    Somerset Rugby Football Union

    The Somerset County Rugby Football Union (SCRFU) is the governing body for the sport of rugby union in the county of Somerset in England. The union is the constituent body of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) for Somerset. The SCRFU administers and organises rugby union clubs and competitions in the Somerset including the county rugby representative teams.

    The Devon Junior Cup is an annual rugby union knock-out club competition organized by the Devon Rugby Football Union. It was first introduced in the 1888–89 season when it was won by Paignton. During the pre-war years the Devon Junior Cup was open to lower ranked teams in the county, along with the reserve sides of the larger clubs such as Exeter and Devonport Albion. Like the senior cup competition, the junior cup has periods of inactivity over its history due to World Wars, and was cancelled towards the end of the 1950s only to return in the 1986–87 season when it was won by Exeter Saracens. The Havill Plate was introduced in the 1970s for teams knocked out of the first round of the Devon Senior Cup but later included clubs knocked out of the early stages of the Junior Cup – it was discontinued after the 1998–99 season.

    The Bristol Combination Cup is an annual rugby union knock-out club competition organised by the Bristol and District Rugby Football Combination – one of the five bodies that make up the Gloucestershire Rugby Football Union. It was first introduced during the 1970–71 season, with the inaugural winners being Bristol Harlequins. A plate competition was introduced during the 1985–86 season for teams knocked out of the early rounds of the Bristol Combination Cup, with St Brendans Old Boys being the inaugural winners. The plate was discontinued at the end of the 2002–03 season and has since been replaced by the Bristol Combination Vase, which is for lower ranked clubs in the region.

Presently, the RFU Intermediate Cup is the third most important club cup competition in England, behind the Premiership Rugby Cup and RFU Championship Cup.

    The RFU Junior Vase is a rugby union national knockout cup competition in England run by the Rugby Football Union, which has been competed for since 1990. It is mostly contested by 1st XV teams at level 9 of the English rugby union system, although sides as low as level 12 or even outside the league system can sometimes enter. The competition is a national one, but split into regions until the national semi-finals with the final being held at Twickenham Stadium in London. Presently, the RFU Junior Vase is the fifth most important club cup competition in England, behind the Premiership Rugby Cup, RFU Championship Cup, RFU Intermediate Cup and RFU Senior Vase.
