Sonakshi Kar (born 23 June 2003) [1] [2] is an Indian singer and live performer from Kolkata. She had participating in several singing reality shows such as Indian Idol Junior 2013, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs 2017 and Indian Idol season 13 (2022-2023). [3]

Early life and Career

Sonakshi was born in Kolkata, India. And attended Maharishi Vidya Mandir School in Kolkata for her education and graduate in 2022. [4] She learned music at home when she was 3 years old—then studied Hindustani classical music with Jayanta Sarkar from the age of 4. She also received training in Semi-classical music from Deep Chakraborty. [5] [6]

In 2011, she made her debut in the Bengali singing reality show 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs' on Zee Bangla when she was 7 years old. [7] After that in 2013, she participated in Indian Idol Junior Season 1 when she was 9 years old. In that competition, she ranked top 6th. In the year 2017, she appeared again in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Li'l Champs 2017 when she was 13 years old. There she secured the position of 1st Runner-Up. [8] In 2022-2023 she was in Indian Idol Season 13 on Sony TV and finished in 6th place. [9]

After Indian Idol 13 ended, Sonakshi sang for Himesh Reshammiya in the album “ Himesh Ke Dil Se ” titled “Tera Chale Jaana” which was released on YouTube channel on November 24, 2023. [10]

Sa Re Ga Ma Pa is an Indian Hindi and Nepali (Franchise)-language reality singing television show. It started airing on Zee TV in 1995 as Sa Re Ga Ma. It is the oldest running game show in India as well as the oldest show on private television in India. The name of the show is derived from the first five notes in the octave of classical Indian music.

Chronologically, the show is preceded by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs, however systematically it is followed by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005. The show features two of the previous mentors, Himesh Reshammiya and Ismail Darbar, and two new mentors to the Challenge series, Bappi Lahiri and Vishal–Shekhar. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs International is an Indian televised children's singing competition announced by Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 host, Aditya Narayan, on 28 July 2007. The season began on 19 October 2007 with 28 contestants. The show was broadcast on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Anamika Choudhari won this competition on 1 March 2008. It is the second instalment of the "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L'il Champs" series and the fifth public voting competition in the "Sa Re Ga Ma Pa" series.
