Soni Sumarsono (born 22 February 1959) is an Indonesian civil servant who was the Director-General of Regional Autonomy in the Ministry of Home Affairs. As part of his position,he has become acting governors for the provinces of South Sulawesi,Jakarta and North Sulawesi.
Soni Sumarsono was born in Tulungagung,East Java on 22 February 1959. He studied for a bachelor's degree in state administration at Gadjah Mada University. Later on,he studied at the Asian Institute of Management in Manila for his master's degree in development management and a doctorate for educational management at Jakarta State University. [1]
Sumarsono is married to Trie Rachayu,and the pair has three daughters. [2]
He found employment as a civil servant after graduating from Gadjah Mada,and rose up in the ranks to become a second echelon staff at the age of 42. By 2010,he was assigned as the assistant deputy for national borders,and in 2015,he was selected as the director-general for regional autonomy. [1] As director-general,Sumarsono was appointed as acting governor of North Sulawesi on 22 September 2015. [3]
As he was approaching his retirement,he was discharged from his post as director general in March 2019. [4]
Due to both the sitting governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) and his deputy Djarot Saiful Hidayat taking a campaign leave for the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election,Sumarsono was sworn in as acting governor on 26 October 2016. [5] During his time as governor,Sumarsono restored several former high-ranking city officials who were demoted under Ahok,to the latter's criticism. [6] Sumarsono also stopped benefits to the RT/RW of the city and soldiers and police officers stationed there,though Sumarsono reintroduced funding for Betawi groups. [7] Ahok returned to office on 11 February 2017. [8]
Due to a runoff phase in the gubernatorial election,Sumarsono once again became acting governor on 6 March 2017. [9] Ahok once more returned to office on 15 April 2017. [10]
Sumarsono was assigned to another acting governor post due to the expiry of South Sulawesi governor Syahrul Yasin Limpo's term,serving until the elected governor from the 2018 South Sulawesi gubernatorial election could be sworn in. [11] He criticized Makassar mayor Mohammad Ramdhan Pomanto's celebration of a blank box win at the 2018 Makassar mayoral election,noting that a public official should refrain from such actions. [12] He was replaced by elected governor Nurdin Abdullah on 7 September 2018. [13]

Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno is an Indonesian businessman,investor and politician who is the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy,and was the Deputy Governor of Jakarta. He was elected along with Anies Baswedan in the 2017 Jakarta gubernatorial election after defeating incumbent pair Basuki Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot Saiful Hidayat. He resigned the office to run as Prabowo Subianto's running mate for the 2019 Indonesian presidential election.

He was the second minority governor of Jakarta with ethnic Chinese ancestry and also of the Evangelical faith,following Henk Ngantung,who was the sole Catholic and ethnic Minahasan governor to hold office from 1964–65.
Djarot Saiful Hidayat is an Indonesian politician who is currently a member of the People's Representative Council. He was the governor of Jakarta,in office between 15 June and 15 October 2017 after being acting governor since 9 May. He replaced his predecessor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama when the latter was found guilty of blasphemy against Islam. He was appointed by Basuki as Deputy Governor in 2014 to fill the gap left by the election of Joko Widodo as president.
Sinyo Harry Sarundajang was an Indonesian politician. He served as governor of North Sulawesi for all but one month from 2005 to 2015. He was also a former Governor of North Maluku in 2002 and Maluku in 2002–2003. In February 2018,he was appointed by the President Joko Widodo as the ambassador to the Philippines,with concurrent accreditation to the Marshall Islands and Palau.
The 2018 South Sulawesi Gubernatorial Election took place on 27 June 2018 as part of the simultaneous local elections. It was held to elect the governor of South Sulawesi along with their deputy,whilst members of the provincial council will be re-elected in 2019.
