Sonja Henie was a Norwegian figure skater and film star. She was a three-time Olympic champion in women's singles, a ten-time World champion (1927–1936) and a six-time European champion (1931–1936). Henie won more Olympic and World titles than any other ladies' figure skater. She is one of only two skaters to defend a ladies' singles Olympic title, the other being Katarina Witt, and her six European titles have only been matched by Witt.

Astrid Sandvik is a Norwegian Alpine skier who finished tied for sixth place in the women's slalom at the 1956 Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo. In 1963, Sandvik was awarded the Holmenkollen medal. Sandvik is one of only eleven non-Nordic skiers to win the Holmenkollen medal.
Friederike "Fritzi" Burger was an Austrian figure skater. She was a two-time Olympic silver medalist, a four-time World medalist, the 1930 European champion, and a four-time Austrian national champion (1928–1931).
Sonja Viola Edström-Ruthström was a Swedish cross-country skier. She competed at the 1952, 1956, and 1960 Olympics in the 10 km and 3 × 5 km relay events and won bronze medals in both in 1956; in 1960 she finished fifth in the 10 km, but won the 3 × 5 km relay.

After winning the 1991 World Junior Championship in 10 metre air rifle, she won the World Championships of 1994 and 1998, in 1998 doubling with a victory in 50 metre rifle three positions. Still without Olympic medals, she has a very large number of victories at ISSF World Cups and she holds several world records.
Sonja Barjaktarović is a retired Montenegrin handball goalkeeper. She was the first goalkeeper of the Montenegro women's national handball team and helped them to win the silver medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics.
