Sotirios Pastras (Greek : Σωτήριος Πάστρας; born April 21, 1986) is a Greek former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. [1] He is a multiple-time Greek champion and record holder in the butterfly (50, 100, and 200 m). Pastras is a computer engineering graduate at University of Thessaly, and is currently a member of Nova Club in Volos, under the tutelage of his personal coach Nikolaos Prantzos.

Pastras made his first Greek team, as an 18-year-old, at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, where he competed in the men's 100 m butterfly. He raced to third place in heat 4 and twenty-ninth overall by six hundredths of a second (0.06) behind Slovenia's Peter Mankoč in 54.20 seconds. [2] [3]

At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, Pastras qualified again for the men's 100 m butterfly by eclipsing a FINA B-standard entry time of 53.45 from the Nioveia Grand Prix in Thessaloniki. [4] He challenged seven other swimmers on the same heat as Athens, including Olympic veterans Juan Veloz of Mexico and Michal Rubáček of the Czech Republic. Pastras cruised to second place by 0.17 of a second behind Denmark's Jakob Andkjær, breaking both his personal best and Greek record of 52.41 seconds. Pastras failed to advance into the semifinals, as he placed twenty-fifth out of 66 swimmers in the preliminaries. [5]

In November 2011, Pastras shortly retired from his swimming career to pursue his studies in media. [6]

He set an Estonian record of 1:27.06, as a relay swimmer, in the 4×50 m freestyle at the 2008 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Rijeka, Croatia. Haustov is also a member of Kohtla-Järve Water Sport Club in Tallinn, and is coached and trained by Aleksandr Abel.

Jonathan Massacand is a Swiss swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. He is a two-time current Swiss record holder for both 100 and 200 m backstroke. Massacand also won a gold medal, as a local favorite, in the same discipline at the 2012 Zurich International Meet, claiming a personal best of 56.49 seconds.

Elizabeth Mary Coster is a New Zealand former swimmer, who specialises in backstroke and butterfly events. She helped the New Zealand team to pull off a fourth-place effort and broke a New Zealand record of 4:06.30 in the medley relay at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia.

Onur Uras is a Turkish Olympic swimmer who specialized in the butterfly stroke. He is a four-time Turkish national champion, and a member of Galatasaray Swimming Club in Istanbul, under his head coach Yilmaz Ozuak. Uras is also a former varsity swimmer for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and a graduate of industrial engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia.

Daniel William Henry "Danny" Wong Bego, OLY is a Malaysian swimmer, who specialises in freestyle and butterfly events. He emerged as one of Malaysia's most promising and outstanding swimmers, winning a total of fifteen medals at the Southeast Asian Games, and breaking six national records. He was the first Malaysian swimmer to compete in three different events at a single Olympic Games.

Danil Bugakov is an Uzbek former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke, freestyle and individual medley events. He won two medals for the 50 m backstroke at the Asian Swimming Championships. He is also the brother of freestyle swimmer and three-time Olympian Mariya Bugakova.

Mariya Bugakova is an Uzbekistani former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly and sprint freestyle events. She represented Uzbekistan at three editions of the Olympic Games. She is also the elder sister of backstroke swimmer and two-time Olympian Danil Bugakov. Bugakova is a law school graduate at the Tashkent State University of Economics.

Ankur Poseria is an Indian-American swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. He is an Indian record holder in the 100 m butterfly, until it was eventually broken by his fellow swimmer Virdhawal Khade at the 2009 Asia Age Group Championships in Tokyo, Japan. He also attended Hoover High School in North Canton, Ohio, where he was a multiple-time All-American and a three-time YMCA national finalist.

Balázs Makány is a Hungarian swimmer, who specialized in sprint and relay freestyle events. Makany is a member of Kőbánya Swimming Club, and is coached and trained by Gyorgy Turi. He is also a varsity swimmer for the Texas A&M Aggies, and a graduate of computer science at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

Hjörtur Már Reynisson is an Icelandic former swimmer, who specialized in butterfly events. Reynisson is currently a member of KR Reykjavik, being coached and trained by Mads Claussen. He is also a graduate of medicine at the University of Iceland in his home city Reykjavik.

Eduardo Germán Otero is an Argentine former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke and butterfly events. He is a three-time Olympian, a multiple-time national record holder, and a two-time champion for the 50 m backstroke at the South American Games. He is also a member of Club Nadadores del Rio Plata, and is coached and trained by Marcelo "Yuri" Quaglia.

She is a two-time Olympian and a multiple-time Portuguese record holder for the long and short course breaststroke events. She also won three medals in the same category at the 2005 European Junior Swimming Championships in Budapest, Hungary.

Sung Min is a South Korean former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and backstroke events. He represented South Korea in three editions of the Olympic Games, and held multiple national championship titles and swimming records in the relay freestyle and backstroke events. Sung had also won a total of five bronze medals, including one from the 50 m backstroke, at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea, and at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar.
