The Melvins are an American rock band formed in 1983, in Montesano, Washington. Their early work was key to the development of both grunge and sludge metal. They originally performed as only a trio but later also sometimes appeared as a quartet with either two drummers or two bassists. Since 1984, vocalist and guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover have been constant members. The band was named after a supervisor at a Thriftway in Montesano, where Osborne also worked as a clerk; "Melvin" was disliked by other employees, and the band's members felt it to be an appropriately ridiculous name.
Collective Soul is an American rock band originally from Stockbridge, Georgia. Now based in Atlanta, the group consists of lead vocalist Ed Roland, rhythm guitarist Dean Roland, bassist Will Turpin, drummer Johnny Rabb, and lead guitarist Jesse Triplett. Formed in 1992, Collective Soul released their Hints, Allegations, and Things Left Unsaid album on the independent label Rising Storm Records in 1993. The band went from obscurity to popularity that year after the song "Shine" became an underground hit based on radio play. The album was re-released in 1994 under major label Atlantic Records.
Snot is an American nu metal band from Santa Barbara, California. Formed in 1995, the band released their only studio album Get Some with founding vocalist Lynn Strait in 1997 and disbanded after his death in 1998. In 2008, the lineup of lead guitarist Mikey Doling, bassist John Fahnestock, drummer Jamie Miller and rhythm guitarist Sonny Mayo reunited. In 2009, a new band, Tons, was formed, with Brandon Espinoza as vocalist. As of February 2014, Snot has reformed again.

Before settling on the Wrathchild America name in 1988, the band had performed under the names Atlantis, Tyrant, and Wrathchild. They released two studio albums through Atlantic Records, and gained charting success through the Billboard 200. In 1992, they changed their name to Souls at Zero. The band is also notable for including one-time Kix member Brad Divens, and a then-unknown Shannon Larkin, who went on to become the drummer for many bands such as Ugly Kid Joe, Candlebox, and Godsmack.
Brad Divens is an American rock musician. He was the bassist and lead vocalist for Souls at Zero, formerly known as Wrathchild America. His vocal style often draws comparisons to James Hetfield (Metallica). Previously, Brad played guitar with the Maryland band Kix on their Cool Kids album.
James Shannon Larkin is an American musician, best known as the drummer of rock band Godsmack. He replaced the previous drummer Tommy Stewart in June 2002. Prior to Godsmack, he was a member of Amen, Candlebox, Ugly Kid Joe, and Souls at Zero.

Michael acted as primary recording engineer for their debut CD "ALLOY20 - Part I: Lost in the Veil of Darkness", released on October 20, 2012. Michael spends his spare time producing other acts and is also working on a solo project. He was co-founder and lead guitarist of the rock band Snydly Crunch. Snydly Crunch was featured on the 97-Underground compilation Album in 1987, and released "Revealed" in 1993. The band has performed with artists such as Pat Travers Band, Kix, and Mitch Allan with Honor Among Thieves on several occasions.

The album was moderately successful, becoming the band's only album to chart on the Billboard 200, where it peaked at #190. A music video for "Climbin' the Walls" was released to promote this album.
Souls at Zero is the debut studio album by American heavy metal band Souls at Zero, released on July 20, 1993 by Energy Rekords. While retaining the thrash metal roots of Wrathchild America, the sound of this album is also of groove metal and alternative metal akin to Pantera and Helmet.
3-D is the second and final studio album by American heavy metal band Wrathchild America, released on January 28, 1991 by Atlantic Records. This was the band's last studio album before they changed their name to Souls at Zero in 1992. 3-D was not successful as Climbin' the Walls, failing to appear on any record chart, although music videos for "Spy" and "Surrounded by Idiots" were released.
Jamie Miller is an American musician, currently the drummer for rock bands Bad Religion and Vanishing Life. He is also the lead guitarist and the backing vocalist for theStart, was the drummer for Snot and Souls at Zero, and was the drummer and guitarist for ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead.
