The South East Cornerstone South Public School Division No. 209 provides public education to nearly 8,000 students in south east Saskatchewan.
The School Division was created in April, 2005 as part of the Provincial Government's plan to restructure the way primary to secondary education was administered in the province. The first members of the Board of Education were elected on June 15, 2005. On January 1, 2006 it replaced the education administration of the former South Central #141, Sunrise #145, Weyburn #95, Weyburn Rural #62, Souris Moose Mountain #122, Moosomin #9 School Divisions and the Estevan Comprehensive School Board #127.
The School Division operates 41 schools with a wide variety of grade configurations and enrollments. It operates 165 school bus routes transporting over 3,000 students every school day. The division has a budget in excess of $72 million. The administrative office is located in Weyburn and a support office is in Estevan.

Weyburn is the tenth-largest city in Saskatchewan, Canada. The city has a population of 10,870. It is on the Souris River 110 km (68 mi) southeast of the provincial capital of Regina and is 70 km (43 mi) north from the North Dakota border in the United States. The name is reputedly a corruption of the Scottish "wee burn," referring to a small creek. The city is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Weyburn No. 67.

Martensville is a city located in Saskatchewan, Canada, just 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) north of Saskatoon, and 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) southwest of Clarkboro Ferry which crosses the South Saskatchewan River. It is a bedroom community of Saskatoon. It is surrounded by the Rural Municipality of Corman Park No. 344. The community is served by the Saskatoon/Richter Field Aerodrome located immediately west of the city across Highway 12.
The South Saskatchewan Regiment was an infantry regiment of the Canadian Forces formed in 1936 by the amalgamation of The Weyburn Regiment and The Saskatchewan Border Regiment. It was reduced to nil strength and placed on the Supplementary Order of Battle in 1968. They participated in the 1942 Dieppe Raid, during which they undertook a supplementary, secret mission to guard, and if necessary, kill, a radar technician trying to discover vital information on the German radar station outside Dieppe.
Highway 1 is the Saskatchewan section of the Trans-Canada Highway mainland route. The total distance of the Trans-Canada Highway in Saskatchewan is 654 kilometres (406 mi). The highway traverses Saskatchewan from the western border with Alberta, from Highway 1, to the Manitoba border where it continues as PTH 1. The Trans–Canada Highway Act was passed on December 10, 1949. The Saskatchewan segment was completed August 21, 1957, and completely twinned on November 6, 2008. The speed limit along the majority of the route is 110 kilometres per hour (70–mph) with urban area thoroughfares slowing to a speed of 90–100 kilometres per hour (55–65 mph). Portions of the highway—the section through Swift Current, an 8-kilometre (5 mi) section east of Moose Jaw, and a 44-kilometre (27 mi) section between the West Regina Bypass and Balgonie—are controlled-access. Highway 1 serves as a major east–west transport route for commercial traffic. It is the main link between southern Saskatchewan's largest cities, and also serves as the province's main link to the neighbouring provinces of Alberta and Manitoba.
The Moose Jaw Canucks were a junior ice hockey team based in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. They were one of the founding members of the Western Canada Junior Hockey League in 1966 following a rebellion within the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. The franchise evolved from the Moose Jaw Cubs in the early 1930s.

Highway 39 is a provincial, paved, undivided highway located in the southern portion of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan connecting North Portal and Moose Jaw in the north. This is a primary Saskatchewan highway maintained by the provincial and national governments and providing a major trucking and tourism route between the United States via Portal, Burke County, North Dakota, and North Portal, Saskatchewan. On July 3, 2000, Highways and Transportation Minister Maynard Sonntag officiated at the ribbon cutting ceremony opening the new duty-free shop and the twinned highway at Saskatchewan's busiest border crossing. Highway 39 is one of Canada's busiest highways, facilitating transport for $6 billion in trade goods via approximately 100,000 trucks over the year. The entire length of highway 39 is paved. The CanAm Highway comprises Saskatchewan Highways Hwy 35, Hwy 39, Hwy 6, Hwy 3, as well as Hwy 2. 44.3 miles (71.3 km) of Saskatchewan Highway 39 contribute to the CanAm Highway between Weyburn and Corinne. Highway 39 is divided or twinned in two areas at North Portal as well as north of Weyburn for 1.7 kilometres (1.1 mi). The junction of Hwy 39 with the Trans–Canada divided four-lane highway is done via a "Parclo" or partial cloverleaf interchange.

Broadview is a community in Saskatchewan along the #1 highway, the Trans Canada Highway, 155 kilometres (96 mi) east of Regina. The local economy is based mainly on agriculture. It is also the administrative headquarters of the Rural Municipality of Elcapo No. 154

Saskatchewan Highway 711 connects Saskatchewan Highway 35 in the Wellington rural municipality (RM) to Saskatchewan Highway 9 in the Wawken RM. The beginning terminus is just south of Cedoux. The length of Highway 711 is 142.1 kilometres (88.3 mi) and it extends westward, in the south-eastern area of Saskatchewan northeast of Weyburn. Osage and Corning are the only communities along the route.
Cannington was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. This district was one of 25 created for the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905. It was preceded by a Territorial constituency of the same name. The constituency was combined with the "Souris" district of Souris-Estevan, and lost parts to Moosomin, Indian Head-Wolseley, Weyburn and Estevan before the 18th Saskatchewan general election in 1975.
Wolseley was a provincial electoral district for the Legislative Assembly of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. Centred on the town of Wolseley, it was one of 25 constituencies created for the 1st Saskatchewan general election in 1905.
Norman Leslie McLeod was a teacher, and school principal in Unity Saskatchewan, and a farmer, merchant and political figure in Estevan Saskatchewan. He was a member of the legislative assembly of Saskatchewan for Estevan area ridings. He represented Estevan from 1931 to 1932 and from 1934 to 1938 and he represented Souris-Estevan from 1938 to 1944 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a Liberal.
Southeast College is a publicly funded regional college with six campuses in the southeast of the province of Saskatchewan, Canada. The college was created under the Regional Colleges Act of Saskatchewan. Its head office is located in Weyburn. The six campuses are located in Weyburn, Estevan, Moosomin, Assiniboia, Whitewood and Indian Head.
