South Purrumbete is a locality in the Shire of Corangamite, Victoria, Australia.
The Purrumbete pastoral run was established in the area in 1838. Smaller farm selections in the area were taken up around 1872 to 1976. The land was volcanic and suitable for grazing and dairying. A school was established in 1877, with Catholic and Presbyterian churches soon after. The school closed in 1993. [2] The churches have also closed. [3]
